Thoughts and prayers for embb's DGD

Congrats to Jue's OH - it must be a huge relief (although slightly disappointing that he won't have a chance to really get the hang of being in charge of the domestic duties!)

Triker - if that's what it takes then you need to do it. No job is worth sacrificing your health for

Been busy. House is a tip and filthy although the ironing has been done. Accompanied a friend to a grievance hearing on friday (against my better judgement as she doesn't really have a case that I can see beyond the usual mild management incompetence at dealing with redundancy) but has been told by a couple of people that she could get more money out of her employer. As she has another job to go to I did ask her what she'd do if they reinstated her as a result of her action :p and as she's also talking legal action how she'd feel about asking her new employer for time off to sue the old one . . . As she hated the old job, hopefully she'll now get this resolved asap, get a reference for the new job, take her redundancy money and leave it behind her.

Went to see a friend in London on Friday night and helped her empty a storage unit that was costing her nearly £100 a month for her to keep junk in, then went to the hairdresser for a nice relaxing few hours as I was having the colour done. Came home and went straight out to a Chinese new year party - saw lots of people I knew and met lots of new and interesting people. However was disturbed at 2.30am by my personal mobile ringing (very few people use it) from the study where I had left it charging. 14 missed calls and a text, so panicked that it was an emergency. Message was just 'answer your phone'. Then realised that calls were from two numbers and i didn't recognise either, so when it rang again I switched it off but haven't slept well worrying about it. Texts this mor ing saying 'who iz this' so it clearly t anyone I know as even when drunk they can manage to spell 'is'! And also they would have left a message if it was important. But I'm still a bit stressed about it having had issues in the past with nuisance calls that ended up involving the police.

I'm hoping it'll be a reasonably nice day today so that I manage to find the energy to get some flying done' even at a basic level!

embb, everything crossed for our DGD
Juliejim, that is great news. I have a list of phone numbers and contact names to send to you just in case things don't work out.

Lots to do today. Need to do a general tidy to fix the mess made yesterday, at least one HHI, and try and make a start on our bedroom. It needs to be a haven not a hovel.

embb - am very very much hoping that no news is the best news for you

juliejims - so pleased your DH has a new job

poohbear - glad to hear DS is OK - I'm sure he appreciated his Mum rushing to be with him

Am having a bit of a maudlin time - despite my thinking I had achieved a higher standard of cleanliness in 7 rooms, and the removal and/or reduction of visible hotspots in four rooms - and all rooms we use daily at that, Mr B has apparently not noticed a thing. As this is running alongside the fact that I've kicked my fairly dormant asthma off and my hands are chapped and sore, there's the major issue to me that he really doesn't pull his weight around the house (OK, I'm no saint or I wouldn't be in this mess, but I have always tried to do something every day) - which also happens to be the opinion of his DS, DF and DSM, I am slowly simmering. Never let Mrs B simmer .............. she tends to come to the boil very slowly and only then once a decade and I don't like me when I do it.

Shut up Mrs B, take your rant out on something more productive .......... probably my simmering is not helped by the fact that I have a meeting at work at the end of tomorrow afternoon on "Capacity Issues", when I fear I and my 1.5 colleagues are going to be asked to take on more work .......... and the straw is already loaded high on this camel's back.

Anyway, other folks here have far more difficult and upsetting things going on, so I'll go back in my corner and throw out some spoons for collection. Mr and Mrs Dawgus are ready and willing to round up and chase away any dogs that are unwelcome anywhere else.
