I've just got to post this...

Woke up this morning planning to blitz the house and do cooking as we have visitors. Looked round our bedroom, thought, "this looks fine - don't need to do in here".

Went into bathroom, thought, "this looks fine - don't need to do in here apart from shoving some toilet cleaner down toilet". Duly done.

Went into study, thought, "this looks fine too and as long as no-one's looking into cupboards or drawers, don't need to do anything in here either".

Went downstairs, admiring the clean and tidiness of landing, stairs and newly varnished hall floor. Popped my head around LR door. Aha! A pen left on the coffee table - quickly decluttered off coffee table and thought "this looks fine..." you know the routine.

So I spent the morning cooking - lovely! Kitchen now sparkly too! Have a bit of ironing that I'm going to do tomorrow but otherwise very, very pleased with myself.

I've only been doing this a month and can't believe how much better the house looks. Going to be concentrating on sorting out things hidden away in drawers, cupboards etc now but fully intend to keep on top of cleaning lists.

So to all newbies who can't quite believe it works... it does!! If you're interested, the number 1 tip from me is even if you don't manage to do anything on the list one day, start to become aware of what you are doing (or not doing) in your surroundings (rather than completely ignoring them as I have been doing for the past ... years!). I started to realise how often I would just get up and abandon what I was doing without spending the couple of minutes it would have taken just to put away what I'd taken out. As someone on here - can't remember who! - says "don't put it down, put it away."

And as pleased with myself as I'm feeling at present I know very well that there's no way I could have got to this point without all the wonderful flyladies on this thread. So a big thank-you and pat on the back to everyone from me! :T (Especially to those who are having a really hard time and still managing to have a go...)

    See you all next week...!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. DS2 has been discharged and is on his way home now. The amazing team at the hospital need to be congratulated on what they did for him. What happened was a freak event which no doctor had ever seen before. His oxygen levels are back to 100 per cent now and he wants to go flat hunting with his mates tomorrow. Sorry this is from phone.

    Poohbear - what great news

Kazw - it was a bit of an unplanned trip out - just to get some fresh air and not think about Funeral stuff - boy it was windy there, seem to have brought the wind home with me so gonna have to check our allotment tomorrow aswell as see Mum, go to Costco and do a weeks worth of washing and ironing in half an hour lol

All I seem to do when I'm at home at the mo is read forums!! Need to get sorted here big time as the place is disgustingly messy

Monday we are back at the Funeral Directors and doing other bits

    Great news Poohbear
    maybemischief Happy Birthday

:wave:serena, my parents visited today and reminded me that I need to cut the dead leaves off. The wind at least seems to be drying out the mud so maybe get a chance if things calm down.

Havent seen pollybear for a while (but I have just been skimming myself :o) - hope you are ok?

I did manage to get the house vaguely tidy, and hoovered. I also made coconut macaroons, florentines and banana muffins - of which there are 5 muffins left!

Monday is D-day for my new time commitments, I want everything straight by then. The last remaining big job is my bedroom. Need to do a few bursts on that tomorrow, not least to wash the mould off the wall. I think we need to re-point outside with lime mortar so the poor house can breathe and maybe expose a few walls, it has made a huge difference at the other end.

Popping in to update, decluttered a whole house today, there were 2 of us then 3 of us and DD. We completely cleared a house, everything right down to the carpets, nothing salvagable as severely water damaged. So think this can be classed as the ultimate in decluttering.:D No flying at home today but will catch up tomorrow or just start again on Monday. Been in bath and now off to babysit DGC.
Skimmed thread, hugs and sticks and spoons to all, birthday wishes to all who need them. Helenjelly still thinking of you all x

    hi all

well i have tackeled my room of doom which is the bedroom today - at least now i can see the floor and all the clothes are away and i have clean sheets.

i still have boxes of halloween and christmas decorations in the corners waiting to go away - but will try and do that tomorrow or monday..

Rain not stopped all day here so have also been doing crafts and painting with the kids - making princess hats with streamers out of newspaper and painting them pink..

so lots of cleaning up in the kitchen to do once kids are in bed.

DH is working all weekend - out at 7 and not back until after 10pm so will try and get downstair straight again tonight but i have said we can do more crafts tomorrow - but if i let them paint at least i means i will HAVE to mop the whole floor - so will motivate me to mop rather than just sweep the downstairs..

right kids starting to fight so will try and declutter them to bed in a minute...then tidy / clean / glass of wine time

    Hi guys

Just a quick visit, can I please ask for some of those special flylady vibes for my granddaughter please, she was taken into hospital in the early hours and she's being treated for Meningitis :( been in bits all day but DIL just phoned to say she's got a bit of colour in her cheeks and is trying to talk to her so is responding to treatment, sigh of relief but not out of the woods yet. Thank You xxx

Helen, sorry to read about your Dad, my condolences x

nixie paulie (is that right? it's off the top of my head) hugs and strength vibes for you xx
