I see that the England team is rather full compared to the others, so if any of you Welsh, Scottish or Irish want me I'm happy to be on your team - I did live in North Wales for a few years and love it there... and I'm umm... about 1/72 Scottish... :rotfl:
An honoury Irish person for the next month then :j:Tteecee you do appear to be a bit of a billy no mates dont ya!!!
fortunately for you though the winners are decided by percentage loss, and just think how many stone the english team will have to lose just to make it to 1% !
Not a billy no mates any more :j:jCan i suggest maybe that next months team challenge could be WeightWatchers vs Slimming world vs Calorie counters et al??????
You can suggest it - we'll see what happens at the end of the month :rotfl: - of course if the English lose you maybe demanding a rematch :rotfl:0 -

my Dad and stepmum paid me a surprise visit earlier and have offered to pay me £500 for every stone that i lose! .... i'm still a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE]lot shocked tbh but talk about motivation!!! And considering that i havent taken any drawings from my business for 5 months, it really couldnt have come at a better time!0 -
Pop me in the English team please Fred. I need to kick start again.. I haven't weighed myself and i don't wanna let things slip!0

Fred put me down for 3lbs loss from the figure i gave you at the start of the country challenge i.e. 16st12
:)
Off to kill myself playing 5s0 -
Thanks for the new thread Fredsnail.
I have been lurking again, nice to see so many new people,(welcome ) and the regulars.
It was lovely to see you popping your head round the door. Know that we are all thinking of you, and hope that things are going OK for you right now. xx
Alliwant - Don't be too disappointed. Look at all that you achieved last year.... far and away beyond your initial target, practically doubled it. Maybe your body wants to find it's level for now, and then you can tweak those last few pounds. How much more do you want to lose, and what size will that have you at (if you don't mind me asking)?
SGTG - well done with your weigh in. Those numbers will only be decreasing from now on. Welcome to the gang, and stick with us girl, we'll keep you on the straight and narrow.
Victory - I hate to say I told you so.... :rotfl: I'm pleased the nurse was so enthusiastic. I felt reassured about SW when I discovered it's the only plan the Royal College of Midwives promote. I'm just disappointed it's taken me all these years to find it, but now I have, I know it's a plan for life, not just for now. I'm loving the variety of foods, the tastes, but most importantly, how much healthier I feel.
I've been up the gym again today, and I'm really pleased with how it's going there.
Off out for a Thai meal tomorrow, but I've worked the treat into my weekly allowance, so not worried about it.One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Might suggest that to my dad although I think he's secretly a feeder. :rotfl:
Anyway he was telling me today how iceland had "reduced to clear" tins of christmas biscuits down to £1.50... so he bought all he could carry... which was 18 tins !!!!!
He "says" that hes not going to have more than one biscuit a day... and that they'll be sharing them between the two of them but im not stupid, i know exactly what he'll do...
18 tins i couldnt believe what i was hearing. he just genuinely doesnt give a stuff about his weight! doh!0 -

I weighed myself again this morning, as suggested by Puds..... and the scales didn't go to 'Err'! I'm 335lb, and I don't mind admitting it because I'm NEVER seeing that number again! So, now that I can keep track, I'd like to join in with your challengesI see that the England team is rather full compared to the others, so if any of you Welsh, Scottish or Irish want me I'm happy to be on your team - I did live in North Wales for a few years and love it there... and I'm umm... about 1/72 Scottish... :rotfl:
i had to buy special scales to weight myself at nearly 500lbs

I'm hoping it is due to the steroids I've been put on for 5 days. I am determined not to have them for longer than that.
Gutted about it, but remind myself that I have lost 5lb since the beginning of the year.
they are renowned for weight gain0 -
My son has been diabetic for just over a year now, and the whole thing terrifies me! We are fine with everyday care for his condition, but his blood sugar readings really worry me as he jumps really high after meals, as you used to, then falls back down in time for the next meal - the nurse says that every diabetic does this and that it is normal, but it seems that he spends most of his day with his blood sugars in the late teens! He also has periods where his sugars are really difficult to control.
He does my blood sugars a lot (playing doctors!), and I have only ever been between 4.2-5.9, so the difference is pretty scary.
I have been reading up a lot on it all and decided to try and go lower GI with his meals, this has helped, although hasn't really affected his meal time readings. I think it's too mean to restrict his carbs too much as I have with mine as he is only 6, so needs to eat 'normal food' just like his friends, but I have lowered his intake a bit, which has helped stabilise his readings.
I've spoken to the nurse, consultant, and dietician about this a few times and each time they tell me not to and that he should just follow the government recommended 'healthy diet' that everyone else should - around 60% carbs. I have no idea how a big restriction on carbs would affect a diabetic, but I know that having a little less carbs in his diet has really helped my son's readings so I'm quite uncomfortable with the fact that I'm being advised not to do it!
immensely difficult condition to deal with such a young child0
