I really want to lose weight - mostly so I feel happy and healthy but also 'cos we are thinking about maybe possibly starting a family (eek) and I want to be in really good shape for that.

My starting weight is 11st 9lb :o but I'm not sure how much I want to lose - I said 30lbs but my DH told me I was nuts :rotfl:.

I will be dead chuffed if I can lose 7lbs in Feb!

  • Right, one week of mostly eating healthily and a getting a bit of exercise and am very pleased to say that at my WI this morning I seem to be 11st8lbs (can't be entirely sure though since they are old fashioned scales and can't see all that clearly down to my feet!) so that is a loss of 5lbs!!!! I'm not sure that that can be right though since my clothes all feel the same on me - very tight - so maybe a couple of glasses of water and it'll be back but who knows??? Am gonna try and up the exercise this week and I am sure I'm just at this weight because I am lazy because I do eat really quite healthily. Anyway I am not getting myself too excited about my loss as I am convinced it can't be right and I will keep at the improved eating and exercise and find out next Monday if indeed I have actually done well! Also I am gonna try and check in more regular than once a week since it took me AGES to read through all the posts from last tome I was here :)
Good luck all for the next week and speak to y'all soon! x

Let me share with you the yummy "fridge bottom" soup I've just made!

Spiced Carrot and Red Pepper Soup

Half an onion and bit of garlic sweated in tsp of olive oil and a shake of garam masala. Added chopped carrots and chopped red and orange pepper and sweat. Add 2 knorr veg stock cubes and topped up with water. Bring to boil and simmer til veg is soft, then blend. Season and I think sweet root veg benefits from a splash of lemon juice.

Yummy, healthy and all from tired wrinkly leftovers!

"WOW. I feel tired just reading that lol!!! :D" - i know tara747, I was exhausted yesterday!!!!

Despite all that, had WI this morning and I've put on 2 lbs:mad: - don't know how that is possible.

It is TOTM later this week, and H2B has tried to convince me that it's a combination of TOTM and muscle gain - I'm not convinced and I'm feeling really upset:( - has anyone else experienced this? Any words of advice?

Yes! I weighed in this morning... 144lbs so 1lb ON!!! :( I am so annoyed but am going to keep going and not let it put me off. I think your H2B is right, it is probably muscle gain - either way, don't let it get you down, keep at it!

I'm off to Curves after work, the scales will not beat me, I tell you! I have two choices - keep going and increase my chances of losing weight, or give up and vastly increase my chances of gaining more. Giving up is not an option at this stage, I am beyond fed up of the flab and am utterly determined to do what I can to shift it. It's now 3.5 weeks till my hols, realistically there's not a lot I can do in that time but I am taking the long view, and even if I can tone up a bit in the next few weeks I'll be encouraged to keep going.

Well done to those who have lost weight this week and hugs to those who have STS or gained. :A

@ you ladies who are exercising enthusiastically.................have you taken all your measurements? When the scales let you down, the tape measure can tell a different story.

Years ago, when I had my 5 and a bit stone weight loss, I got down to 10stone 4, but was still a flabby size 14 . After exercising like a woman possessed for a few months, my weight had gone up to 11stone but I had become a very toned size 12 (I am 5'8" tall).

    Don't be disheartened;)

It's strange though isn't it, because I am a very flabby size 14/16 now but much heavier than 10stone 4lbs!!

Thanks for that Bronnie. I did get measured at Curves and will be checking my progress just before I go on holiday. :) I usually do know by my clothes whether I've lost weight - atm 1lb here and there really wouldn't register on the belt notches but would be such an encouragement on the scales. But you're right - it's the measurements that count! I am NOT giving up this time, this is really and truly different. Though I may fall occasionally, I will pick myself up and carry on. I'm not sure what's spurring me on this time, maybe it's the fact that I am finally officially overweight (i.e. BMI >25) that has shamed me into 'do or die' mode!

p.s. well done on your previous weight loss success, wow!
