Thinking of you mothership and remember to look after yourself as well as everyone else.
Long tall sally personally I would chuck the stock if it has been in a week.

Have spent a while peeling and chopping carrots this morning so as could put them in the freezer as they were not keeping very well and I did not want to throw out nearly a huge sack full. Don’t think I will buy another one as for us it’s a false economy unlike the potatoes which are a real saving.

Finally got round to baking and have made some jam tarts, a malt loaf and a cherry cake - this one is for mum to take home with her tomorrow so as she and her friend who is coming on Monday can have it. Have just finished cleaning the fridge out and checked food in it to see what needs using first. There is a small head of pak choi that I will add to some soup on Monday and I found 1 lemon that had started to go mouldy, have chucked it in compost and washed the others that were in same net. Will have to keep an eye on them and get them used a.s.a.p. Lemon curd in a Victoria sponge perhaps. Yum.

Brought fruit & veg today as well as milk, a paper, crisps and some flowers to take up to the cemetery in the morning. Total spend has been £20.77 Have just noticed that the crisps we brought although we paid the same price there is now only 5 in the pack instead of 6 !!!! Sneaky or what.

not to concerned YET with spends this month (famous last words perhaps)

£85 spent in Mr T - all of the pet food is on 3 for 2 which I hadn't realised. Kitecat was 5.12 for 18 tins so I got a couple of months worth for Mr. Fusspot who wont eat the very expensive biscuits the other three cats have. Also stocked up on coffee pods, diet coke and value cleaning stuff so I dont have to go again for months, and so I could use a £7 off voucher they had sent to me. Fatal to get sucked in.

I have been paying £11.99 a week for a fruit & veg box form the milkman, at 9 items (1kg carrots, 1 kg red onions, 1 savoy cabbage, iceburg lettuce, cucumber, baby plum toms, 6 large apples, 4 large oranges and 1kg bananas) it isn't the biggest bargain ever but it is very fresh, it does keep me out of the supermarkets and it is cheaper than A&C. There is a still a £10 off code for people new to milk and more on their home page.

  • Although, I planned a NSD, I didn't manage it. I bought some cheap veg at L*dl. I am going to make roasted aubergine soup tonight for lunch tomorrow. Sweet and sour pork for dinner tonight. I have some chocolate chip cookies baking just now.

I have decided not to view this month as a failure. I have learned a lot and this is an ongoing process.

I am off to watch the rugby now. It is not looking so good for Scotland at the moment!

I am pleased to report a spend of £110.65/300 to date with nothing required until next Friday (18th)

Thought I would try to meal plan for 2 weeks and just get 1 online delivery with a requirement for fruit and veg top ups. Doing really well so far and have the next week's meals covered so I am WELL chuffed. Having a freezer delivered next week, so hoping to make further saving by bulk cooking. Nevertheless to come in on budget last month has been a huge boost, hopefully under budget this month.

Well done everyone - I hope you're all getting as much satisfaction as me by planning and saving a huge amount of money with no waste :T
  • Hi everyone,
Had a spend today in Mr M and the local butcher £35.16 in total. Someone (sorry can't remember who) suggested writing a months meal plan but not with specific days, so there is a bit more flexibility, so I've been doing that and finding it so much better really, if I haven't got an ingredient I just choose something else to make, and get what I need when I go shopping, rather than keep popping to the shop - as we all know that is fatal!

Not GC related but just wanted to share. My bestest friend gave me and DH vouchers for Jamie Olivers' Fifteens Cornwall restaurant at Xmas, so we spent them today in a pre-valentine lunch. It was absolutely gorgeous, I am so stuffed won't need anything else to eat today, made me feel very lucky, being spoilt, and such a beautiful view of the sea. I do keep thinking though the cost of lunch, is what I would spend on three weeks shopping - scary!

    Have a good week everyone

    Hi

I know it's a bit late in the month but can someone please put me down for 250.00 for Feb? I keep starting the challenge then not finishing. At least this time with it being only part of a month I have got half a chance. I am more of a lurker than poster normally but I will try to post and I enjoy the way everyone supports each other on this thread.

    have a nice weekend everyone.

  • OMG I have totally blown this months budget.
I have been to Tesco and stocked up on cat food for my 3 cats whilst on 342. I also did some orders on the Holland and Barratt glitch but stocked up on lots of grocery's.
So that's it I'm all done for Feb I'm thinking that the budget i set myself £220 is just to low for me my oh and 3 kids and cats and maybe £300 is just more realistic.
I will re-evaluate what I am buying and see if savings can be made. I have stocks of some things so maybe an annual total will even itself out.
Anyway I am stocked in everything till march so at least this months total shouldn't get any worse
