  • Spent £61.24 yesterday in M&S and Mr T which I'm really disappointed with :(, though that does include some whoopsie stuff, although I've only got just under £9 left of my budget, I've meal planned until next weekend, then we're off to Disneyland Paris for part of half term :j:j, when we get back there will be 4 days left of Feb and in theory I should be able to just get by buying milk ;) and after what I have a feeling is going to be a fairly expensive half term break, March is going to have to be very strict  but I'm already noticing my grocery habits starting to change for the better, so fingerscrossed it continues.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday :)

Mine broke today! : ( It just doesn't dry, I think it cleans fine but the clothes end all damp and cold instead as before, warm and just a bit wet. I have been looking at Freecycle and eB@y but nothing around my area. The cheapest I can see with at least some known brand costs around £199, but I was trying to save for a narrow chest freezer that I saw for £130 :(

I also need to do quite a bit of shopping this week, I am just avoiding it but milk is running, bread is almost gone, one egg left and only a couple of things in the freezer. I was planning to try and stock up, the 9 toilet paper rolls offer at MrM ends on Monday or Tuesday (was it £2.25?, somebody said about a voucher somewhere, where was this?). Planning to buy there also the Nescafe Decaff 200g 2 x £5. PGtips in MrT at 2 x £7 and Finish Ai1 42 at £4.49 in MrS.

Anyone knows where I can find cheap eggs?

Mothership a big hug for you.

it's a nighmare isn't it, try phone somewhere independant tho because they knocked £30 off the currys sale price for me and delivered for free :), have u looked on gumtree aswell? my hubbys funny about secondhand appliances so tahts why we got a new one

if your not fussy about where your eggs come from iceland do 15 for £1.50, also i tesco do value 15 for £1.53, looks like your'll be in every sm getting the best deals :)

i should have a nsd day today heading to the inlaws for lunch and will hopefully just lazy about there all day, i really struggle not to go to MR.T on a sun cause i know thats when to get the best reductions, not that they'd fit in my freezer anyway :rotfl:

    Hmmmm.......not great again.

Stuck to the list really well for most of the shop in Mr T, then realised that to get the 5p off petrol, needed to spend over £50, but wasn't going to manage that on the rest of the list, so picked up a few bits of general stuff to top me up the last £10 of so.

Only things like tissues, kitchen roll, plastic sandwich bags etc and spotted a decent deal on dishwasher tablets too most of which we will need in a couple of weeks so not money wasted, and at least none of it will go off and have to be thrown away! but still more spent than planned.

Anyway ended up spending £61.92, with £17.35 of it being "off list spend", and to cap it all off I forgot to use the money off vouchers I had in my purse!

So that brings me to a total of £142.31 / £300 for the month. I've updated my signature already. :o
Debt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage :o) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

  • I spent €145 so far, after all, but only want to get dried mango extra this week.

I went to Mr T on Friday night, and had to get meat for 3 days, quite a few storecupboard items, and got a box of wine (3l) and some beers, so that all added up. I DID have €8 in vouchers to use, and some extra points vouchers, and checking my receipt, found overcharging on tins of spaghetti (Dora and Thomas the Tank) - had been charged 65c when 60c on shelf (and last time I bought these, about 5 weeks ago, they were only 54c!), so I got them for free (regretted only buying 3 then!). So that was €125.

I spent €5 yesterday on a loaf of really nice bread and a nice cookie for DD. We don't get "proper" bread all the time, but it's a nice treat some weekends.

And then, I spent €15 this morning, including the Sunday papers, and getting a couple of other bits I hadn't managed to get on Friday.

The plan for the week is to use half the chicken pieces to roast tonight (thighs and druimsticks) and the other half in a curry later in the week. A spg bol tomorrow from freezer. Tues and Wed will be from freezer (probably pasta, sausages and tomato sauce), Thurs will be a beef bourgignone, and Friday something simple as we are travelling on Saturday.

And as we won't have DD the following week (she is staying with Grannie for mid-term fun), we'll have a chance to use up things in the cupboards that we like that she doesn't, so should be a cheap week.

  • Hi everyone,

have spent £37 from GC budget but have noticed I really need to replace some store cupboard essentials. Running really low on veg oil, salt, etc. Also need some meat. Plan to make a lasagne this week as well as a stew in slow cooker so will pop out tomorrow to buy mince and stewing beef.
Hope you are all doing well and are having a good weekend.

    Afternoon everyone

Mothership - isn't it nice to get a lie in occassionally but I agree with others - get to a Doc, stress can knock you sideways, have a hug [hug]

DH came home on Friday with 23 1pint bottles of milk that were 11p each and still had 3 days date on them so they are in the freezers [sqeezed in all over the place] He left loads on the shelf

We are all just about coping here but we had a lovely afternoon yesterday. Nana and Grandad paid for DS to be a Mascot for MK Dons footie Team, for his birthday in November and yesterday was the time for it to happen. He was given [as part of the package] a footie kit, programme with his photo in it, tickets for me and him to watch the game, an engraved medal and an ornament with the game details and his name on it. We got to meet all the players in the changing room [my favourite part!!] and they all signed his autograph book and had photos taken, he then trained on the pitch and then got to walk out with the goalie at the start of the game, shook hands with the other team and then came off to watch the game, in about 2 weeks he gets official photos sent to him, off him and the Goalie. It was a great visit [just a shame that Grandad wasn't there to see it but DS thinks he was watching from up above]

Lots of tidying and re-organising going on here and I'm hoping to bake a Lemon Cake later if time allows

    Have a lovely Sunday afternoon

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Popped to Tesco this morning as needed fresh veg and had run out of freezer bags and cling film - what a price that is getting over £2 was reckoning on it being about £1.25. What I did notice, as I only do an online shop once a month, that our Tesco have done away with many of their own ranges and definately are short stocked on their value stuff - marketing ploy me thinks so you have to buy the more expensive brands. Thats me stocked up now on freezer bags, cling film, fruit and veg for the next two weeks, picked up a few other odds and ends so need to increase my total by £33 so not too bad I suppose!
Still well in budget and only 2 weeks to go.

  • haven't joind in with the feb grocery challenge but am trying to mend my ways! Will try to budget for March but was wondering if people include toiletries/household items in with their figures. E.g. things like washing powder, toilet paper, toiletries and cleaning products or is it purely just food?
I am a lot better at planning meals etc than I used to be but also wondered what people would think to be a reasonable monthly spend for a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 nearly adult boys 15 and 17 and a ten year old girl)
