Hello All,
Thanks to all you folks for helping me be aware of my spends. I spent only £43.45 last month, and although this was slightly over my £40 limit I am really proud of myself as this is the lowest ever.
Today for me is the first day of my month, simply because I did a big Morri$ons shop this morning.
First - GC for ShySarah for Feb budget is £55, up by £15 from last month but I got some tax back so have decided to allocate some of it here. I also have some baking to do for my support groups Valentines party this month. I cannot go but I can help 'em.
Got some good bargains in Morri$ons today. Including some whoops meat and half price tablet sweeteners. Also got 3 bags of scampi for the price of 1 a nice treat. Plus a 'stew pack' for 50p.. 1 parsnip, 2 onions, 3 carrots and a swede.. what a fab buy specially as swedes were 45p each!
My freezer is full! Therefore I must use a lot of the things in there this month - batch cooked stews, curry, soup etc.
Okies.. time to crack on with some flying.
Thanks all
Sarah xxGC 2011

anyone seen any good offers on eggs? scrambled egg seems to be the in thing at the mo and using about a dozen a day  & thats making a huge dent in the budget.
thanks to everyone who keeps this thread going :T yet to come in on budget but keeping tabs on here really helps to limit the damage
I get my eggs from Sainsbugs, normally 15 for £2 (free range). Or have a look in your locale a lot of ppl are selling on the roadside now. xxGC 2011

Thanks to all those who run this thread. Mrs M - can Long tall sally be put down for her usual £450 for feb please. Have already spent a worrying amount of £185.57 so that's not good! Will have to hope that the fact that Feb is a short month might help although thinking about it as my month runs from the 26th to the 26th, that would actually have more impact for March!Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0

Didn't meet my target in January but that's because I got my shopping today instead of tomorrow so it's on January's budget!
Anyhow, for February please could you put me down for £250 - we're away skiing for half term week and it's a short month so I'll give it a go. Nothing ventured nothing gained!!

Good afternoon all
Wow we are busy bees on here aren't we
Im nipping out for my 1st shop of the month (started on 25th) once hubby gets in from work - its mainly milk, fruit n veggies that need a top up so it "shouldn't" be too bad... must keep repeating "buy nowt that needs freezing" I couldn't get a pea in either of the freezers if I had to.....
I have made us a lamb hotpot for tonight -just need to flick the remoska back on as we go out so it can finish off and then flick the steamer on when we get back so the veggies can cook whilst I put the shopping away. I have turned the chicken carcass into some chicken n sweetcorn soup -hubby will be pleased as he loves it and will no doubt snaffle it for work with some home made bread
Im down another 1lb this week.... 7st10lbs gone -only a max of 5st10lbs to go :j.... I tell you something I am gobsmacked at how itty bitty my appetite seems to be getting  -or perhaps its just that I was a greedy oinker before :rotfl:.... the shopping budget has about evened its self out as even though I buy more things like activia intensly yogs (€1.99 for 4 ) etc Im now 40 weeks in and in that time I have had NO:-- chocolate
- crisps
- sweets
- cakes
- pastries
- take aways -not that we had many anyway
- or bread/bread products -even though Im still making them for hubby:A
Anyway -enough waffle from me.. I will update my siggy when I get back and update the list of partisipants...
have a great evening all!!-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Hi, could you please put me down for £400 this month
I am going to give this a go. I am hoping to get my monthly grocery budget down much lower but am trying to be realistic and do it gradually. This will need to cover 2 adults, 2 children, a dog, a cat and my son's fish.
Thanks :jGC 2023 June £72/500 NSDs 1/100 -

Sorry about that, having a really hard time with very ill family member. Had to get that out, trying to hold back the tears, if I start I wont stop. Don't keep too well myself which isn't helping. I'm really glad to be able to escape to here now and again, it really helps. So thank you all of you for all your posts reading them takes my mind off things. Got my wee 5 month old grand daughter tomorrow for the day to give her mum a wee rest. So roll on tomorrow.
Too cold for the garden so... There's only one thing for it COOK!
I popped out for bread flour, yeast , milk, macaroni, cream and managed to spend £10 from my GC Feb budget.
Came down to have a wee look through the recipe's to see if I could find a nice one for bread. Not made bread for years (used to do it all the time) till I stuffed my (proving place full of groceries). Then I read on here that someone puts a plastic shower cap over the bowl to prove the bread, I got loads of those (I do B&B they don't get used much, about 4 in 9 yrs).
Over the radiator in the kitchen would be a great place for proving, if I put the covered bowl in a bag and hang it there, it should work.
If anyone wants a disposable shower cap to try it PM me and I will send you some. I helped with a mail shot recently and got loads of stamps left over as a reward.1st Purse £114.19 Monthly GB:rotfl::j:wave::j:rotfl:
