    Evening all,

I have been meaning to post all weekend but found myself doing other things/trying to catch up with the thread! Finally there though :)

Thank you to everyone who maintains this thread, doing a great job :T

Friday was payday for me & my OH, so off to Mr T's we went - I was aiming to spend about £70 from our £150 budget but we ended up spending £93.60  & that's after "saving" £19.04 on deals! Shocking how much things have gone up by. We also popped into Mr T's again today to pick up a few bits I forgot - spent £5.37 on parmasean cheese, garlic & pepper...hopefully I can avoid going back for another couple of weeks & stick to the meal plan like glue!

Good luck everyone, I'll update my sig soon x

lil_me in at a brave attempt for £250 again, wasn't easy last month but will have another go. 2 adults, 2 boys who eat as much or more than adults nearly all meals (apart from an overnight stay) inclusive of takeaways to put us off buying them

    Good luck all x

I need to change my budget, can you change it to £250 please :)

I need to lower it from the £300 I had budgeted for, hopefully it's still achievable. Long term £250 is a far more realistic amount anyway so I guess I may as well just go for it rather than trying to lower it over time. We have some major expenses over the next 2 months so every saving helps.

our month has started fairly well, with a huge purchase of milk and eggs at costco, then bread flour, pasta and whoopsied cheese at asda. So £12.80 spent, of £40 budgeted, eeeeeeeeep, however this has yielded:

    4 x 2 litres whole milk
    1 x 500g pasta
11 x 1.5 kg bags of bread flour
    72 eggs
1300g cheese (whoopsied to 10p per 100g :money:)

I also have a question about the Khicheri recipe in the index of this thread http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/creamylentilandriced_86573 has anyone made this? I am just a bit confused about the portion size and would very much like to make it! It says 35g of rice and lentils per person. We normally have 125g rice per person here :o so I'm just wondering if this is a lunchtime portion and I will need to do a 3 times bigger amount per person IYSWIM?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

shyvicky123, I really understand where you are coming from about costco! When things are tight, we sometimes only take cash to costco, of a predetermined amount, just to avoid the temptation that the freebies inevitably bring! Easier said than done though :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Please can you put me down for £100 this month! Managed £79.95 last month but that was using up the Christmas food. Still have lots of rice, pasta, soya mince and pulses in. Have also got some meat in the freezer somewhere! It's just the 2 of us and little dog, might try to make some dog biscuits for her this month.
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
