Battist, I'm gonna report you to the RSPCA..or some other organisation that might give a damn!

Op - I know nothing about the PS3 and banning, but from what I've read it does seem he's probably caught bang to rights.

I've had my kids screaming at me, telling me what a bad parent I am when I won't allow them to play COD as they're only 12, while many of their friends parents are far more liberal. It doesn't feel nice saying "no" to them, but I'm not gonna let them watch !!!!!! films either, just part of being a parent, sometimes you've just got to make your kids unhappy as they can't always have their own way :(
Sadly I know (or strongly suspect) that when they get to their friends houses my rules go out of the window, which is frustrating, but no reason for me to drop the rules.

If you cheat on this game does it stop your whole ps3 from working on any game...?
No, you can still play other games, and indeed you can still play Black Ops offline, you are just permanently banned from the online server.

Is it possible he connected to a 'boosting lobby' by mistake (where someone is hosting a hacked game in order to get increased points)

Everyone who has claimed this has had the evidence of their cheating and their lies revealed by Treyarch for all to see.

As I said earlier, merely joining a hacked lobby does not get you banned as they are aware many people have been ranked up unwittingly. It is more in depth than that and involves looking at firmware, saved game files and history.

    .

    No, it is game specific.

However Microsoft take a harder line on the Xbox 360 and you can be suspended or banned for many things - even using a colour on your avatar thats not available without doing a mod will earn you a suspension or a ban. There are also two fuseable links on the mainboard which can be blown to brick the console in light of persistant cheating or hardware modifications to circumvent copy protection.

What I not understand is if the game runs on the game survey then shouldn't there be some checks similar to a virus checker that checks for these cheat mods? Wouldn't it be better to have a game check each time you login , also when playing that as soon as a cheat is detected you get booted and the game blocked with a 3 strikes and your out, and to reset the game you have to uninstall and reinstall it. After 3 times your account is fried thus banning you and your console from the game.

That way if some kid that really didn't know or even understand the annoyance it causes would be warned, and they would have to uninstall the game which removes the mods and has to install the game again to play. The uneducated would have learnt their lesson, the cheaters would just be idiots and banned from the game perminantly
    Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £574
