How much would you/do you pay for ironing service?

Hi, A lady asked me if I would mind doing some ironing for her and she would pay me for it, I said this was fine and she gave me a washing basket full and said I would get £15 for this. (she mentioned that if it took longer than 2 hours she would pay me more) I thought this was being quite generous.
It also gave me an idea. I'm currently trying to raise money to take with me next year when I go to work at a childrens orphens in Kenya and I thought a good way of raising some money would be to offer to do peoples ironing and then saving all the money up to donate.
My question is how much do I charge for this? I'm not the worlds best ironer (is that a word?) and it will be for charity. I am going to print some leaflets out and so need to know what price to put on.
ANy ideas suggestions would be much appriciated. Thank you x

my mum used to get a lady to do ironing as she was very busy at uni and work. i think (dotn quote me on this) that it was about £15 for two bin bags of stuff. she wasnt the best ironer in the world but it took a lot of hassle out of it for my mum.love you lots like jelly tots0

I wife runs an Ironing service and she charges £15 for 25 items. - She worked out that she could do 25 items in about an hour, and that's what the structure was then based around. Other people charge per item, something like 75 pence each, and extra for large items like bedding etc, but less for childrens items. That can of course be complex.
Be careful charging by the bin bag full, when my wife first started she used to charge £10 for a bin bag full and some people took the p!55 its supprising how much you can cram into a bin bag if you try..........

Thank you so much. I think if I just put 15 per bin bag that should be fine. It's just to raise money really and the people who I will be doing it for I will know and so they will understand that im no expert.0

great way to make people feel good about giving to charity- give them something they want in return- of course, you may get good at ironing and want to set up business??:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I dont think I would set up a business but we will see lol. I was racking my brains trying to think of a way to raise money and when the lady asked if I would iron I thought it was a good idea. I'm fortunate enough to still live with my parents and have two jobs so If I kept the money I would only be spending it on things I didnt really need. And its not like people are just giving money as they get something back like you said.0

I wish you lived near me!! I got really behind with my ironing a few months ago and rang up a local ironing service, who collected a black bin bag full of ironing (mostly T-shirts, blouses and trousers) and when it came back the bill was £104:eek: I was in shock!Jane

My ironing lady (I know not very DFW but OH pays as its mostly his stuff) charges 15 quid for 25 items. I only give her work shirts and hard to do Tshirts etc - the easy quick stuff I do myself . We end up doing this once a fortnight so about 7.50 a week in reality - small price for him to pay to prevent WW3! I hate ironing!!0
