  • Right, well today was productive :j I took dd to nursery & went home and put on my 3rd wash of the day (half 9 by then lol) and hung out the 2nd! Loving the wind as it's the perfect weather to dry my clothes :rotfl:

Then I took ds2 to playgroup (free sure start one) and we had free snacks & tea there :T

picked up dd and went home & emptied out the shed (yep finally got round to it) after a few fights with creepy crawlies (who were pretty determined they weren't being evicted without a fight!) the shed is clean, organised and I have a fair few bags ready for the dump tomorrow :) Most of the summer toys are away now except the really heavy ones that i couldn't carry to the garage (is a 5 min walk from the house)

My friend then popped round and i had cuddles with her lil bubba :) and when she had gone i made sausage, mash & veg, yumyum! I'm now utterly exhausted with a headache and sat on the sofa where i don't really intend on leaving until i have to put kids in bath in half hour :o!

Quidco - now paid into emergency fund :T
And i'm enjoying a new challenge on here to do 10 positive things every day...I managed 7 today and also am fitting in one for myself, good for the soul to feed and nourish it i'll have you know ;)

NSD #2 here :T hoping for another tomorrow! Thursday will be a spend day, there is a cake sale for help the heroes so i must show my face and buy one....at least one ;)!

Was going running today but dh has to go out this evening so will do it tomorrow now (honest!) :D

  • NSD - Today's update:

    DFW 2
    SLM6002 2
    Happy 1
    Bonnington 1

Well done to DFW & SLM6002. I'm hoping to be back on track tomorrow.
Had to buy pet food , hay, stamps and some food bits, although still under food budget for week, at present :)

Also, my wife is off work not feeling well. She has spent time today, when not sleeping, on ebay. She has been looking for items to sell on, starting at 1p, with no postage, and has been bidding on them. If she wins any I thought I would put them down as spend for today, the day she is bidding on them. Otherwise there may be items on various days.

You'll never guess how many items she has bid on. About 600 at present. :(
I'm trying to save money. I suppose it is only £6 and if she wins them and if we can sell them on, it will be at a profit.
    June 16 Mortgage Amount £82,896.15
Official mortgage end date August 2027 :(
Current rate 2.59% until August 2020
  • Wow Bonnington, Your wife has been very busy lol, if she does win them all that will keep both of you busy for a while re-selling those! But what a good idea, i didn't realise ebay had things for a penny! I sometimes pick up things at bootfairs & charity shops to re-sell but often i never have the available cash :( ! But all that for £6 well that is a bargain ;)

I'm sure you will catch me up on the NSD's ....thursday & friday are potential spend days at the moment. And Saturday with dh usually involves spends too.....but i'm aiming to change this ;)

Hi can i ask a quick question please as i am very nieve about renting. When you rent to someone what does the rent cover. Do you pay the buildings insurance? Just thought maybe we should rent and use equity to pay off debts and start afresh - no more silly buys!

  • Hi SLM

I am currently renting and we were required to get tennents insurance we paid £6 per month, I assume the landlord is reponsible for building insurance. I would speak to a local estate agents they would be able to give you some good advice

hey :) well we pay for the buildings insurance as our mortgage requires this. Then we pay for landlord's insurance for the year which is around £90 so not too bad. This covers things like tenants breaking things i think! To be honest i've never claimed on it so don't really know fully what it covers (and yes I know, I should read the small print :o) But yep I think like happy said the tenants are then advised (although not required, I don't think?) to get their own tenants insurance which covers their contents........if anyone knows any different though, please, feel free to correct me :rotfl:

Edited: also just to add, if you are not going to be in charge of dealing with tenants on a daily basis then you will also have to pay a management company like i do :( - mine charge 10% of the rent each month! And to be honest they are pretty useless. I would advise if you are not moving too far away to deal with the letting yourself. Perhaps just use letting agents to do the initial set up, finding tenants and writing up the agreements...

  • Since my last post (last night)
    • I've joined 7 new survey companies :)
    • Had another NSD :j
    • Had a bread making lesson :T (so fully intend to make my own again now :rotfl:...was delicious with herbs in yumyum!)
    • Sewn up 5 more sock monkeys ready to stuff
    • Checked bank and happy to report we're still in the 'black' (really don't like seeing red numbers!)
    • received forms for filling out to see if i am entitled to help with NHS costs as my card ran out :( boooo! And I worked it out I would need £15 a month from the budget to put aside for 2 dentist checks a year, one eye test, and my yearly prescriptions (need them every month.......although I think personally, asthma medicine should be free )
    • Arranged a run for later today with a friend :T
I need to check bank again as things were pending for today and weren't showing on the net this morning, so will do that, and see if i have enough money to take £25 out for car tax. If not I will have to just pay that out of next week's tax credits! DH has his pocket money for the month so should keep him hushed about how poor he is and how 'woe is me' his life is ;)!

STILL need to work out how much money we are going to take on holiday with us. Because guaranteed if we take too much for a 'just in case of emergency' we will spend it anyway!! We're off for 3 nights to great yarmouth, apparantly when it wil lbe snowing :rotfl: so not really sure what to do for those few days now! Might have to google it, see what is available with rubbish weather and budget accordingly?!

I have to say though, I for one, am enjoying this colder weather! I'm always sooooo hot lately! Is 32 too young to be starting menopause:rotfl:

  • OK, NSD update:

DFW has now increased to 3
    Happy has increased to 2
    Bonnington has increased to 2
SLM - unknown for today 5 October, left at 2 for now.

DFW - I lived in Norwich for about 30 years and in Lowestoft for about 11 years.

Not certain when you are going to GY. The pleasure beach may be open and there is Pleasurewood Hills near Lowestoft.

You have Norwich with the Castle Museum, cathedral and a couple of shopping centres.

If you go North Norfolk, there is Cromer and Sheringham. Both nice seaside towns, never been there in the snow. :rotfl:

What date are you going, as I haven't been able to find out when the snow is due?

You'll enjoy Norfolk, apart from it is flat. We now live in Perthshire so quite a lot more hills. :D

I'm not sure exactly where we are going either i just know it is the Haven there and I have the sat nav postcode to find it :rotfl:-as you can see i'm a highly organised person :o
