Glad you got a win on the national, or at least your son did. We didnt get anything but never mind there is always next year. Sorry to hear your car is costing you more again - they are just a pain - if it werent for money and cars i think life would be a lot simpler!
We didnt win either, we bet on Shakalakaboomboom who dropped to 9th place right at the end of the race !
Last time we won was 14 years ago , the day after my DD1 was born with a horse called "Blowing Wind ". We won £120 and treated ourselves to a new light for the living room if I remember rightly !!LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

I bet on shakalakaboomboom aswell, so annoyed as it was 1st and 2nd all the way around until the final straight.
Did feel rather guilty afterwards though when two of the horses were put down.
Nice to see your making more money towards your reiki, but booo on the car costs. This is why i dont drive, too expensive and stressfulPAD Maker0 -

Was it two that were put down in the end ? How sad. I must admit we close our eyes as they go over the jumps just incase they fall.LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

yes it was two, sychronised & according to pete
R.I.P.........this often makes me think i'm doing the wrong thing betting on them. This is the only bet i ever make and it's kind of a family tradition which is probably why i still do it. But everytime i hear a story like that i feel guilty after

Morning all,
well hubby is away today (already gone) until tomorrow. I got out of bed to a filthy kitchen. He'd coooked dinner yesterday (in the slow cooker so not really much effort) and there are plates & pans & cups everywhere waiting to be cleaned by me nowi really miss my dishwasher.
It's nice and sunny here today but i don't really want to spend any money taking kids out as i want to try and limit damage the car has already caused on the account. I do need to go shopping for food so a trip to aldi will be the highlight of the day i expect! Then i will be sat by the computer waiting for ebay items to end...i expect i will be as on edge as the people bidding lol i always amstill only two items with bids but one is the big item so it will at least go from my living room where it is cluttering up my wall
Pie & mash for dinner. Nice and easy. WIll see how many meals i have in the freezer before shopping as i don't want to buy meat if i can help it. I'm hoping to get away with just yoghurts, snacks for kids, juice & fresh stuff! Hubby wanted to raid the shares account we have just set up to pay for car to set us straight but i disagreed. It had taken me one WHOLE year to find £600 of savings and i didn't want it being blown on that stupid car. Silly really, he's probably right. But i see that money as my only bit of light at the end of the tunnel ... once i'm debt free i hope to have how ever many years it has taken me to get debt free times £600 so if it takes 5 years i will have at least a few grand to show for it! The savings are what keep me going lol so i wouldn't let him touch it! I'd rather rob peter to pay paul in the mean time of being broke!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. I keep thinking about my long term plans. And hopefully by the time the kids are both at school i will nearly be debt free...obviously by the time the two lil ones are there my eldest will nearly be finished with school too (14 this year !)
I want to buy my own house so I will need a deposit. I'm hoping my dad's business will have picked up by then...he has offered to take over my house and release any equity in it for me when he has the cash to do so. So i could have a small lump sum there to start off my savings. I also will have the smaller amounts i'm saving at the mo of £600 a year. And in 2014 & 2015 i have two long term savings plans that mature. One has always been there for my ds1 so i will re-invest it for him until he is old enough to appreciate it . And my one may be split for the two little ones and re-invested or used to go towards my savings.
Dh and I are still up in the air. I do feel quite sad about it all now -perhaps sinking in a bit- and i keep thinking in my mind perhaps i should back track on my ultimatum. But i don't want to be stuck in a rut forever. I'm 33 now and not happy. Sure sometimes we have fun, usually though we're winding each other up scoring silly points against each other. So it's got to stop. I will make him move out. I've decided for one month to see how we go. I think a week/ 2 weeks is too short for him to realise things so one month it is...! This may increase dependant on how we feel at the end of that!
I want to decide on where i want to be working by the time ds2 is settled in school. I really enjoy doing things like reiki but not sure if it is viable as you need to build a client base really before you see any realy money walk through the door. obviously once you do it's worth it £35 a treatment (which is one hour) so perhaps i might make use of my degree and get a job with kids :rotfl:
I have also decided i don't like living in essex- sorry any essex peeps- i much prefer the east midlands where i was brought up. People seem so much friendlier up there and houses are obviously cheaper. i think schools are better (perhaps biased cos i went to school there and i can't seem to find my kids good schools here lol) so anyway if dh and i decide to work it out i want to chat to him about me maybe moving up there and him working down here and driving up the A1(m) to stay on weekends and leave. lots of hubby's do that and i can finally settle somewhere i have family and friends and feel at home. He already works away tonnes so i'm used to it. I'm not sure how he would react though and i'm also not sure i could trust him. But to be honest that's not worrying me at all. I kind of have got to a place in my life (perhaps a little maturity or wisdom) where i think what will be will be. People split up all the time. People stay together. My life will carry on regardless
Oh and i have plans of buying a horse & cart so i never need use that stupid car again. surely a paddock, field & hay would be cheaper than running my car :insert confused smiley : :rotfl:MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Its an absolutely no win situation with cars, a pain to be without one and a bigger more expensive pain when you do have one.
I do agree with you in what will be will be. Me and OH had a really difficult patch about 3-4years ago and I did want him to leave, I just wasn't happy, I still loved him but just couldn't see me spending the rest of my life with him (even now at times I still can't!!) but we had already had a break up about 8 years ago (all I can say is my hairdresser was involved....say no more) and that really effected my DSs1 & 2 so we got back together and I have to say there are still times (not many too be fair) where I could quite easily borrow your nail gun and nail him a goal post in the middle of nowhere (football is his passion) just because he irritates me nothing more sinister but as the kids have got older the more difficult it is to split up. We are OK now but it brings me back to what will be will be and you never know what is around the corner. Anyway on a lighter note I'm going to sort my ebay stuff out.xxDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17
