  • well today has been a bit of a write off. I feel awful :( sore throat, sore tummy, sore head & really tired. Had the kids and school run though so just had to dose up and get on with it! DH is on holiday now till new year. He has invited his boss over for a cup of tea and cake  i'm too ashamed to invite them into my home. The kids are constantly trashing it and i can't keep it tidy enough for it not to look like a pig sty :(!

No money, no email yet concerning monies owed to me. Might have to do some more emailing & ringing around on Monday (they are shut now for weekend)

Need food shopping. Need money to pay for food shopping. have £40 in emergency funds still but i wanted to keep that there until into next week as 'emergency' money for food for xmas if we have had no payout by then ( i will be fuming if we haven't!)

I get CHB on Monday so that is £46. but i also have bills due out for around the same amount so that cancels that out really :undecided but looking at this positively, i guess i have money going in to cover bills. We do have that £40 buffer if needed & we have all the meat/cake/veg in already. We just need fruit & potatoes & some more prawns (thanks to in-laws last min self-invite) so i won't ponder on it anymore. We have enough money. That is that (hmm nearly convinced myself there :rotfl:)

A case of wine turned up today. That's the last of our alcohol budget gone. We seem to be drinking it as quick as we are buying it though :o January is a detox month! I'm pledging to not drink AT ALL!

Nothing exciting has happened anyway so nothing else to report apart from my impatience! Oh and i finished my book and am half way through another :) i love reading and wish i had more time to do it :A

  • You're not well, give yourself a break. I am and I'm healthy at the min. :rotfl:

I too need to clean the house, but with the kids now having broke up for Christmas face it - it's not going to stay any way I put it. My new theory is - tomorrow is tomorrow, it can always wait till tomorrow. That's how I make the money last too - can it wait till tomorrow? If it can it does, eventually what is needed for today is there or I have to get it, one way or another.
You have to start to finish.

I'm feeling slightly better today! Thank God I had the flu jab is all i can say! Everyone around us seems to be dropping like flies with it, not good. Mine so far has stopped at me feeling rubbish & v. sore throat! I can cope with that when I see how ill others are

Hubby is having a lay in, i was up at 6.56am (nearly 7am :T which i don't mind the look of as much :rotfl:)

I've cleaned the kitchen, removed blown up microwave, and have lots of lovely side space now to serve up xmas dinner. I'm slightly worried as to how i will cook rice from now on though as I can do it perfectly in a microwave and in a pan i ALWAYS burn it :o (and I love rice!)

After xmas I need to look out for in sales, new pans & frying pan (all 5 years + old and were only cheap supermarket ones anyhow :o have no black stuff left on them so no surprise i burn it all really :p) a new jug :rotfl:some new teat towels (although may cut up an old towel...) umm and i think there are a few other kitchen essentials we need but can eek out till jan (like our potato masher lol completely broken but yet we've mastered a technique with it to make it last -the handle comes off everytime you put it in the mash :rotfl:)

I need to find something cheap (FREE) to do today & tomorrow. We have £25 left in bank after chB and bills go in and come out. With emergency fund that is £65 but i'd like to keep all this for food as we have extra guests coming over the xmas period (thanks to dh inviting everyone from neighbours we don't talk to, to his boss  to his mum) ...panto is on tuesday, thankfully paid for! Need to find free parking though :money:. we're going to the zoo on friday as we have passes anyway and it's a late night opening with santa coming :j...xmas eve i have a hamper to keep us busy so we just need to fill a few days in between. To be honest it's so cold i'm happy to hibernate with a book & a blanket till March :rotfl:so will have to see if i can talk a 2 & 3 & 13 yr old into that :p

well today's spends equal £12 :o not quite free huh! We took kids to the zoo (free entry) and paid for them to see Santa :santa2: have to say the three pressies were much better than last year and we paid more to see him last year so i was quite pleased with that

Lunch was free, snacks free & home in time for dinner :money:

    FINANCIAL UPDATE FOR DECEMBER 2011-

Have used maxi mile to sign up for a free credit report- free1200 points (must remember to cancel this!) and my score is 445  and i have 1 star :starmod: out of five :rotfl:ah well it is a good thing this doesn't come as a surprise and i knew my credit would be trashed (my score used to be 990+ *sigh*)

I also used it as a chance to check balances! Overall my TOTAL debt (inc. mortgage) and I officially owe £112,808 :eek::eek:

Couldn't log on to hubby's it wasn't letting me use his card  so i just logged onto the dmp account with cccs instead to get his totals. We owe altogether: £119,312

Minus the mortgage (which sooner or later I must include as we're on an interest only option!) we owe £12, 956 (give or take a little as a few still charge interest!) It is a little gutting to say the least that we have spent a whole 11 months paying into a dmp to still have £12k of debt :( but we had so many charges, fees, etc etc at the beginning i was told to expect it. I didn't want to believe it though :o

So next year from Jan, we are paying £502 a month (£207 more than we did this year each month :T) so i'm hoping to pay off half my debt at least by this time next year!

I'm hoping dh will get his payrise sooner rather than later so we can start savings pots too :T I never ever want to end up like this again with credit ......in fact on this site credit should be a blacklisted word and come up like this !!!! :rotfl:

Ok anyway, off to bed, really tired! hope everyone has a good evening :A

  • pfft so much for an early night, have both kids in bed with me watching ice age. Mental note to oneself: do not let kids nap in the day time!!!

So whilst I have been waiting for them to drop off (not ruddy likely, anytime soon!) I have been shopping around for cashback on gas & elec as i think i'm paying too much (even if others disagree :p) so finally found Npower to be cheapest (when I checked at uswitch) so went off to quidco and searched there for the tariff they recommended.

Well there was £40 cash back for that tariff or £100 cashback for another one....which worked out to be £30 more over the year than the other one recommended. SO with extra cashback this second one worked out cheapest ( i think anyway maths not my strong point lol) so have signed up and perhaps noone will ever hear a peep from me again regarding my high gas & electric bills  (can't guarantee this obviously lol) so i will be watching quidco closely to see if it tracks! And this money is going towards christmas/birthdays 2012. so will get the money and most likely get some gift vouchers straight away to stop me spending it (thought this was a good plan anyway :rotfl:)

as soon as it changes over i will update soa. it's only £15 or so a month cheaper, but i like to keep the money in my pockets rather than theirs ;)

Bad news: there is a poll on facebook: what is the most boring christmas gift? Scarf ; tea set ; another cook book (see earlier post as to why this is bad news :rotfl:)

I would love ALL those gifts.
it seems tenant is in, settled and the house is cleaned to their standard (the oven wasn't clean enough, that was it!)

    Brilliant news debtfreewannabe321:T

This is fantastic news. I hope to have halved my debt by this time next year (although I have a lot more) too, so we can keep encouraging each other:D

Glad you're feeling better, really impressed on how focused you are, even when you're ill
