Sexism in football

So when a groom turns to the best man for the ring, is it ok for the best man to say, "have you seen the t-ts on that bridesmaid! I'm having a go on that later" ?
Or is it only acceptable in certain circumstances?
I wouldn't swear in church on my wedding day, but I would by the side of a football pitch, talking to a friend, knowing that what we were saying wasn't being broadcast (which is wasn't).
I think that the point here is that Sky have stitched Gray up. Yes, he deserves to be for his lewd comments about tucking his shirt in and his sexist comments about the lineswoman - but they've stitched him up none-the-less and Burton has got caught in the crossfire.
My personal opinion is that the comments Burton made, which were NOT for broadcast, were entirely appropriate for the situation of being stood at a football match talking to a friend.
As for Loose Women. That show makes my skin crawl.0 -

From the way I understand it Atkinson, prior to his inexcusable comments, had done a huge amount to advance the careers of black footballers.
Many of the black footballers came forward after Ron's comments and said that he used to make many inappropriate comments in the dressing room and club meetings/functions. I have used the word innapropriate instead of racist because the comments were 'of their time', i.e. during a generation when Mind Your Language, Love thy Neighbour and other odious TV shows were on and it was deemed acceptable by society to make these sorts of comments. However, Big Ron's 'crime' was that he didnt move with the times and alter his behaviour, hence his comments were no longer acceptable.
It will be the same with misogynist comment made now, they are less acceptable than they were 10 years ago and in 10 years time they will be as offensive as racist ones are now.0 -
Yeah, he's been with her for about 10 years though, so they must be talking about someone else.

Whilst we're talking about this let's ruffle a few feathers by talking about Karen Brady, whose 'blood was boiling' when she heard the comments.
Here's Wiki's quite nice reference to her:
Sullivan offered her a job with his firm, and she became one of the directors at the age of 20. While in Sullivan's employ, Brady spotted an advert for the sale of Birmingham City F.C. in the Financial Times, when the club was in receivership,[11] and persuaded Sullivan to buy it and let her run it. Sullivan later commented that he agreed to the deal because such a young, female director would attract publicity to the club
Let's cut to the chase. Brady got the job as she was good looking. I remember seeing some footage of her at the training ground, showing the players a choice of kits for the new season, back at the beginning of her career. IT WAS RIDICULOUS. Does anyone genuinely believe she's an amazing businesswoman, or, when we are really honest with ourselves, do we think she's got to the top because of her appearance. Did anyone see her on Fantasy Football in the 90s with Badiel and Skinner. She was laughable. Maybe this is why Keys has a problem with her.
Moving on to Kelly Cates, Kenny Dalglish's daughter, who decided to wade in to the debate. I'm sure there are plenty of people that went for the same job as her yet she got it - could this be a famous footballer daddy? Or am I completely wide of the mark. Add to this the fact that ALL Sky Sports News presenters are good-looking women and you end up with dirty old men like Gray thinking it's ok to tell them to tuck his shirt in.
Let's not all pretend we're whiter than white here. Sky needed a reason to sack Gray and they got one, but hearing Brady and Cates throw their opinions around makes MY blood boil!0 -

Not anymore, but she was in the 90s.
The consummate professional though - ended up shacking up with one of her 'employees', the footballer at Birmingham at the time Paul Peschisolido.0 -
think a couple of things need to cleared up
1) the comments that Andy Gray made were not for broadcast
2) Andy Gray has been sacked because he is sueing Murdoch for phone tapping and Murdoch is about to take control of SKY (it has nothing to do with sexist comments)0 -

Or, according to many ex sky employees, Gray & Keys bullied & sexually harrassed numerous colleagues over a 20 year period, & are now getting their comeuppance.
Lets face it, the comments which they have made, are not acceptable in the modern day and workplace. He asked a female colleague to put her hands down his trousers !!!!!!. If I did that at work, I would be dismissed. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

See this is what i was sort of getting at earlier. Where is the actual issue, certain people or society as a whole?? Charlotte Jackson is a sky sports news presenter, previously Setanta now she does appear to be knowledgable but lets not be shy about it, she is not on TV because she looks like a bag of spanners. She knows this, she quite willingly ups her public profile by posing in undies/bikini for promo shots. She used to write sports websites.. If she was a 23 stone shaved headed tattooed strong woman she probably still would be. Her professional ability would be the same but she would not of had the breaks she has IMO.
Gray is a muppet and IMO not a very good pundit but I do think there has been a witch hunt for him, probably because of the whole phone hacking thing.
