Ive actually been thinking about this today
How does she "bring the principles of business, to debt" which they go on about all the time
What she terms it "liquidating assets" at an "online auction house"- the rest of us plebs just sell on ebay  The only bit of business nouse I sensed from our chessie is that shes managed to sell a load of old rope for a song.
couple last night- yet again- There was still waste & money hemereging. (sp) No spending diary, no soa. £8 a day. Live on £8 a fortnight mate. It can ACTUALLY be done. that 8 quid a day doesnt seem to include food :rotfl: it was that sort of spending which GOT me in debt. With a budget like that you can spend regardless of what you need. So 8.00 well I dont need anything today so im off to topshop to randomly buy a new purse? or a top, or at the end of the week if youve managed 4 NSds thats 32 quis to just spend spend spend.
Mind you i guess you cant really do much with peoples motivations when the LBs not really on cant you ? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I've boycotted this Cessarina woman's programme now.
I watched the first two, and when they have been given a target 90% of the target has been made by selling a second car!!
Sorry, there's no effort or wow factor in that.

Absolutely, and who the heck is going to get rid of a WM if they have a small baby in the house?SammyD wrote:Also, why was his partner so shocked by his debt - I assume she has had her fair share of contributing to the purchasing of designer baby clothes. She clearly wasn't stupid, she must know how much the basic costs of their life are, eg mortgage. Where did she think the rest was coming from
Didn't have much sympathy with her either - one of these pathetic women who just wants big, strong husband to look after all that difficult stuff, so poor little helpless wifey doesn't have to worry her pretty little head about it. Like that blonde bimbo with all the animals who was on Martin's programme a while back; the one that told him "that's what you're here for - to help me out". Huh? Considering the divorce rate in this country and the fact that women live on average much longer than men, isn't it sensible to actually learn how to manage the finances before big strong hubby pops his clogs or runs off with another brainless bint?
Grr -I just want to slap them very hard with a wet fish. After I've used said fish on Cesarina, obviously; Martin (sorry, Martin) does have a few irritating little mannerisms when presenting, but nothing compared to that silly woman.0 -

I only watch it to feel superior( to cesearina, not the contestants!)

I agree with all of you guys - I couldn't believe this show!! My oh came into the living room with me shouting at the tv, and was "why don't you just turn it off?!".......sadly it's addictive.......if only for getting wound up at the stupid woman.......
It just seems like a real wasted opportunity - they could cover so much more. Whoever outlined the format (throw away cash, sell car etc) was spot on. Surely it's not that hard to think for a lot of people in debt it's just NOT.THAT.SIMPLE!!
Was it last week with the wannabe WAG?! Thousands of ££££ of designer labels and not one but two sports cars (including a not far off new SLK.....!!)...........!!!!!!, if I had that kind of stuff, I'd be sorted out with the mortgage, let alone a couple debts

Spendaholics is better because at least they try and get them into better habits and understand WHY they overspend in the first place. I like the cold turkey challenge (although my weekly budget is still half of their average cold turkey amount).
But this show just doesn't seem to be trying to instill long-term solution ideas into it's subjects. It takes time, effort and a lot of patience to clear £30k of debt, not just a couple of quick go's on Ebay or selling your (possibly essential) transport...
This show is not a good representation of money saving ideas. Most of the people on this forum could show them a thing or five hundred...0 -

I agree wholeheartedly with both of the above comments. Martin and Alvin would be a fab combination for a show and would really get down to the nitty gritty with lots of humour and sense thrown in for good measure. Alvin did follow up shows too which were always good to see. I found an old one I recorded ages ago the other day. I ended up sitting and watching the whole show again!! It was still so inspiring.
Spendaholics was a good concept too but was never on at a good time to be seen by the masses.0 -
Well I didn't watch it again! Any updates of caesarian hand holder? and her infinite wisdom?0
