This should explain the Joey question, good luck with all of your new habits.:A"And crawling on the planet's face,
Some insects called the human race,
Lost in time, and lost in space,
And meaning"0 -
Welcome to MSE! It's interesting that you're mentally changing all your shopping habits - I did that too. Even tiny changes make a difference. See the excellent Pin Money Challenge: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=76086
Don't forget to let us know how you get on."By not unsettling men, you will reassure them. By unsettling men either through timidity or malice, you are always compelled to keep a knife in hand." - Niccolo Machiavelli, 1469-15270 -
Thanks for the welcome, Just moved on from the 'mental' stage after a trip two Tesco. Got to packs of Healthy Eating chicken breasts - over priced by 17p Lb - don't know how often I've had these before and not noticed! Got £8.55 refunded at CS
Don't suppose I should have replied here - but don't know were else to do it!0 -
I wasn't allowed to use my Joey voucher on account of my total bill not being £30! Apparently they can't take over 10% off and every cashier in my store seems to adhere to this
They are also extremely rude about it and tend to make me look like a criminal!
I'm really fed up with Tesco - ASDA, Here I come!0 -
I tried to use a Whiskas coupon last Saturday in Tesco, Old Swan, Liverpool. I was told by the checkout girl that they could not accept them anymore if you hadn't bought the product - in fact two of the other girls had been given a warning for accepting brand vouchers when customers had not bought the products!
Firstly, I was unaware their policy had changed.
Secondly, why are staff being punished when nobody seems clear of the actual policy.
Thirdly, how do Tesco know whether you have actually bought the product or not. The coupons remain in the till until the end of day - they do not know which transaction used which particular coupon.0 -
Tesco's policy seems to change by the day/ hour/ minute. I went into my local store last week and was told no vouchers accepted if you haven't bought the item, went into the same store the next day and was told only 1 voucher accepted. Today the same store took all my vouchers £8.60's worth, so now I've got no vouchers left!!
Which brings me back to the original thread question, where do you get so many vouchers from? I keep running out!
Regarding Tesco taking vouchers or not " If at first you don't succeed..........................................." :beer:Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -

I think the answer the no. 3 is that people don't always tell you the truth. You are more likely to accept what they say if they make up a story!
Basically the store decide - if they don't want to accept coupons they don't have to. At Asda's - where my gf was a seasonal worker while at uni it was completely up to the checkout person what they did. If people took the !!!!!! and tried to hand over hundreds of newspaper vouchers then they could refuse them all, if people were sensible and stuck to under 50% of the bill then all was fine.0 -
I got a few vouchers from Best magazine Joto. I don't normally buy the magazine but there is vouchers in it worth more that the mag. price. Tried my first one today w/out buying the item and they accepted it no probs. Mixed it in with loads of legit. coupons so I wouldn't lose face if it wasn't accepted, I could just say handed over by mistake! Also get coupons off the net, Muller and Domestos seem to be giving them out at the moment and probably others too. I joined all the Tesco clubs - think there are 5 or 6 so use those too. Also do surveys where I get Tesco gift vouchers. hth Rachel. I am sure there are more ways to get coupons so I'll keep an eye on the thread for more ideas! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi,
I have just moved to Hazelmere in Surrey and tried to use vouchers in the local Tesco but they wont accept them unless the product has been purchased.
My question is does anyone out there know of another Supermarket in the area that does accept vouchers without buying the product first.
Would really appreciate some advice0 -
Hi lm50
I can't help you with the answer to your question, I'm afraid, but I do have an email from Tesco's head office categorically stating that they DO accept vouchers/coupons (including internet coupons). If you would like me to forward a copy of it to you, email me on carm@tesco.net and I will do so. #
Hope this helps
