    Hi, welcome to MSE! :D

You'll find quite a lot about this subject throughout the forum, but the quick answer is that Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury will all accept coupons irrespective of whether you actually purchase the product.

However, each store will have their own policy regarding this, so it's probably best to "experiment" with a few vouchers on a small shopping trip rather than launch into handing over £15 worth of coupons and risk being rejected!! :o

My personal experience since first finding this forum and learning about coupon shopping has been totally positive. My local Asda are happy to accept coupons for more than half the value of the shopping bill. But I would never make a fuss if they didn't. I realise that this is a privilege and not a right.

I use a combination of coupons printed off from the internet and ones that I have sent away for from manufacturers.

Good luck with your own efforts!

Thanks Honey for filling me in! I am all excited now I can't wait to go shopping give it a go. I have often tried to use the vouchers they send in the post even without buying the product without any probs so now I have collected lots of vouchers through this site I am well and truly on my way to saving some real money. I know from experience that it is a bit of fun really, thanks for all the tips.

Thanks Wirm for pointing me in the direction of this thread, it has been a great help :-)

Sainsbury's??? Are you sure about this??? I've always been under the impression it's just Asda and Tesco, have I been wrong all this time???

Hi, I can only tell you what I have experienced (although I'm sure Sainsbury's gets a mention throughout the forums with regards to coupons) and that is that they do accept vouchers.

To give one example: I popped in to my local Sainsbury's to buy some milk and their instore magazine and handed over Telegraph vouchers for the total amount of the bill!! If they had complained then I would have paid cash with no problem, but they didn't seem to mind.

I haven't tried using coupons on a large shop cos I tend to get most of my shopping at Asda.

But as I said earlier, policies may vary from store to store, so never assume anything until you've tried. ;)

    Hope this helps.

My Sainsburys won't accept any coupons unless you are actually buying the product & the price of the product has to match or exceed the value of the coupon, but then the staff are a bunch of snobs in my branch anyway & look down their noses at coupon users!

Can someone please clarify for me, can you still use money-off coupons in the supermarkets to get money off your total bill if you haven't actually bought the product? For example, I have a coupon for 50p off Tropicana Orange Juice, if I go to tesco or Asda tomorrow and produce it at the till with my shopping but don't actually have the orange juice in my basket, can I still get the 50p off?

I seem to remember that a few years ago, some supermarkets would take any old coupon even if you hadn't bought the product, can you still do this?

Am I just being a daft new money saver? someone please help me out, I could be saving loads!!
Great site by the way, I love MSE !!
