What about chucking money at the private sector? Might that help?
Left to it's own devices, teh private sector will do fine. Many of it's problems come from rafts of pointless legislation and the fact that large chunks of it's profits are taken away in taxes rather than being used for expansion and creating employment.0 -

Therefore depriving the taxpayer of what is rightly theirs. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Or by perhaps giving them the means to employ more taxpayers if that is what makes business senseSet your goals high, and don't stop till you get there.

Working hours directive, maternity pay, various reporting that is required, complicated employment legislation, waste regulation legislation etc etc, need I go on.
Plus small busnesses are expected to be unpaid tax collectors for the government.
Yep, maternity pay, working hours directives, environmental regulations, ... all pointless legislation, innit?
That was a silly post, ILW :rotfl:0 -

No, the titles of these regulations are not pointless....but you completely miss the point.
What makes up these regulations can often be completely pointless. Much of it is pure common sense, which we have to remind people off, stick posters up, and send them on training courses to make sure they carry out common sense.
Because if they don't use their noggin, you can often find theres a court or tribunal case.0 -

How should the government collect these taxes then? Ask people to send them a cheque? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
