What are you on about with Thatcher now? You mean the PM that destroyed violent unions who intimidated hard working honest people into striking?Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0

Anything to deflect attention away from tax dodging non-dom millionaires and blue-chip companies employing every trick in the book to avoid paying their fair share.
We're all in this together?
Tax avoidance is always and always will be legal. No-one in their right mind would not actively seek to pay as little tax as possible.
'Fair Share' is a load of rollocks. No tax system can (or ever will be) fair to everyone.0 -

Actually, it was Employment Support Allowance - the benefit replacing Incapacity Benefit. & what actually happened is that 39% elected not to pursue the claim.
Intriguingly, exactly the same %age were deemed fit for work.
More details & the press release here:
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/newsroom/press-releases/2011/jan-2011/dwp008-11.shtmlwhen the government sent out the forms to people on disabilty benefits regarding getting tested for criteria, apprx 30% of current claiments decided the did not have a disability anymore
So, where did get the impression that what you were writing was the truth? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Did you ever visit the north in the 80s and early 90s?
What the Tories did was little short of an act of war on the northern working classes.
The unions were the only ones trying to resist this spiteful vengeful attack.0 -

Nope...You must have remembered a different Thatcher. I was talking about the one who made four million people unemployed on purpose because apparently it was an acceptable consequence to reduce the inflation her policies caused. Then had the audacity to blame the jobless for not working.
It was mainly the heavily unionised dinosaur industries that suffered under Thatcher. Many hardworking "working class" people that showed a little enterprise and flair, did very well under her regime.0 -

You'll have to be more specific with what you're talking about, there were plenty of periods of unrest during her terms.Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0 -
Even the LibDems are prepared to make the cuts, and being more left wing than Labour, you can see how politics completely clouds a parties true views. I wouldn't be surprised is most of the Labour party agreed with the majority of the cuts happening, they just dont publicly admit it, they prefer to win cheap popularity by condemning them.
Who said the Lib dems are more left than labour?
Many LD voters thought so, then cannot believe thier eyes at what is happening. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
