Organised mum argued with me over a refund on a typo error on their diary

Hi,

I HAVE POSTED AN APOLOGY ON THE GRABBIT FORUM AS I FEEL PARTLY RESPONSIBLE THAT PEOPLE BROUGHT FROM THIS COMPANY, FROM ME PERSONALLY RECOMMENDING THEM IN GOOD FAITH.

I would like to apologise to all those who purchased from Organised Mum. I recently noticed that one of my purchases from this company has a typographical error on it.

The Family Life Book Diary (The little Pink Diary) has an incorrect date. On the 3rd November 2011, It Says 13th November.

The reason I noticed it, is because its my daughters birthday. So I was not happy with this. It will probably not bother anyone else. But for me its the principle and not a nice date to be replaced with.

I have just requested a full refund (with several phone calls) as this company were not very nice at all, especially the Manager, who was very unco-operative and made me feel like I was the one in the wrong!

He made me send back the page (or rather pages) at my own expense for him to offer a refund.

He wanted me to send back the whole diary, which I refused as it contained famiy and friends personal information and I did not want it getting lost in the post.
The manager then went on to call me this morning to argue with me for not returning the whole diary or more pages! That he told me to destroy the diary! (he did not). He was very rude and annoyed at me, for wanting a full refund.

I believe he is wrong and very unprofessional, as he knew that thousands of these diaries have now gone out with this error in them and they were still selling them at a reduced price of £5.00 due to a sale NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE FAULTY! As he admitted that several people had called in to inform them of such errors.

I would like to report him as I feel this is wrong. He should offer his customers a recall, or at least the offer of a replacement or refund, knowing fully well that the purchase is faulty.

Does anyone know what should be done in a situaton like this?

I am happy to accept my refund, if he obliges me.

If anyone else is unhappy, I can only offer for you to call them yourselves on 0845 644 7507 and ask for Kevin Sadler and request to get your money back, as you have been sold a faulty item.

Once again my apologies

Angel

I think you are overeacting about a very minor thing...oh, and please stop shouting.

Why not just adjust the error yourself and let them know the error to correct for next years run. What an overreaction! I would not expect a refund without sending the item back you obviously just want to keep it for free. I have the diary and looking at it the error is obvious and would not have caused you any problems. Life's too short for pettiness like this.

When I saw this post I thought 'Heyup, what's gone off here then?'

After reading, I thought 'What a massive over-reaction over something pretty trivial'.

OK, it just so happens to be your daughter's birthday but to say this is crazy:

Nobody's cancelled your daughter's birthday, nobody's taken this day off the calendar totally.
You make it sound like people whose birthday falls on 3/11 don't get a birthday this year but someone whose birthday is on 13/11 gets TWO.

To suggest they recall all the diaries they've sold is downright silly (imho).
