  • Oh, Bradford-on-Avon's lovely! As is Bath, obviously :D SIL2B had a marquee reception, and just decorated it with lots of bunting - it looked beautiful. I've also seen fabric drapes across the ceiling of the marquee, which gives it quite a sophisticated look. Depends what your personal style and budget are. Are you decorating it yourself or do the marquee hire people give you options? I personally think that as B-on-A is very Olde Worlde pretty that bunting would look amazing. But then, that's just me - put bunting on ALL the things!!! lol

That sounds like a very good price for all of that. Is that the only quote you have though? I'd ask around and see what other quotes you get, and then play the florists off against each other... :money:

One shortbread biscuit doth not a diet failure make! Sounds like you've done pretty well actually, given the three mile walk (which will have burned off the biscuit and then some!), and that you only had one biscuit, as opposed to the three or four I would've snaffled :o

I had a brainwave a couple of days ago re favours - we're probably doing fudge (H2B knows someone), and I was trying to think of a way to present it that wouldn't cause too much wastage. It occurred that we could wrap them in fabric pieces (having wrapped them in cellophane or hopefully a biodegradable substitute first to avoid sticky fabric and bits stuck to the fudge!), which I could then use to make a quilt or throw (possibly for a nursery ;)). So we get pretty favours and a memento for us to boot! Obviously if anyone wants to take their fabric piece home that is fine too, but I suspect most will be left on the tables after the fudge is eaten. So today I have bought some gold and cream fabric pieces from ebay - v excited! :o

Ooh, and I'm thinking of making wildflower seeded paper to write the name tags on, to continue the minimum wastage theme - if anyone doesn't take theirs we'll plant them in our allotment :D

LOL Hadley, you know you're welcome here!!

Here is a youtube tutorial for making seed paper. There are loads of articles on the net as well if you google.

You can buy seeded paper ready made as well, but it's usually very pricey!

    Thanks White Sapphire.

I will have a google. Have seen it for sale and yep rather expensive to say the least... though so so pretty. So if I can make some myself I'll be very happy.:)

Yay saintly!! I did lol a little at his not realising the significance of the date at first - men are often rubbish at remembering stuff like that, aren't they?

Oh, no apology needed Debbie - the Tissue Paper Anniversary is now official, and has been released out into the world! It was actually my H2B who coined the phrase, so all credit to him :)

    I'm a 15th Sept 2012 bride too :j

Budget is 6.5k - 2k of that is photographer as that's the most important thing to me (apart from the vows - obviously!!).

I've got my dress from Monsoon and my shoes are a bargain pair of this season's Rainbow Club collection from eb*y.

We're getting married in Bakewell and then going for food/pictures in a little Derbyshire village. There will be 14 guests for this part of the day. Then we have hired a barn just outside Rotherham for the reception - there will be about 150ppl for this bit and we're thinking of asking guests to arrive at 4.30 for us to arrive at 5...

Hoping to have a BBQ-style buffet for everyone at about 6.30 followed by dancing into the night.

Colours are pale pink & ivory and the barn should be fairly cheap to decorate as it has beautiful oak beams etc - a couple of ivy garlands and some candles will make it magical, and then I'll have a centrepiece on each table (not sure how many tables we're having yet...) I've budgeted £100 for venue decoration and a further £100 for a candy buffet.

I think I've got most things under control...
