yeah and also, when looking at their portfolio make sure all the pictures arent from different weddings....they are only showing their best photos....u need to make sure ALL the pictures from ONE wedding are good so they are consistent....best way to check that out is their blog
oooo i dont know what to do about our budget now....everyone ive spoken to have got married/or are getting married have really low budgets.
obviously i dont want to spend more than i have to. the venue £1475 and photographer £2000 are things we can get away from , but the safari and BBQ is costing us £2010....if we opted out of that it would just be a buffet instead...saving approx £800!!! can u imagine what u can buy with that!

Oooh very good! Will do that definately - never thought of that. Ooh the naughty rascals!nuttymummy wrote: »obviously i dont want to spend more than i have to. the venue £1475 and photographer £2000 are things we can get away from , but the safari and BBQ is costing us £2010....if we opted out of that it would just be a buffet instead...saving approx £800!!! can u imagine what u can buy with that!
Is thay still including your safari?0 -
lol yeah, i would have never thought of that if i hadnt been into photography myself! im going to e reportage photographer (which means they capture the day as it happens with minimal posed photos) the smiles in posed photos are never real...catching then unawares when someone has cracked a joke is the true laughter
the £2010 is just for the safari and BBQ for 60 people (60 is the minimum)
if you didnt want that, the only option would to be then have a buffet (without safari)...though the buffet food would just be like what they had just had for afternoon tea! would love to save, but there no way we can cut back apart from charging people for the coach, men pay for own suit hire, and grabbing a mega cheap dress n bridesmaids dresses! even that wouldnt be a huge saving!!! lots of peoples budgets are £1000-£5000, mine seems a lot higher at £8000-£9000!! and its not as if we are rolling in it either, so could do to spend less! LOL:dance:

Awwwww love the idea of capturing real moments, love it.
As you say, the costs for the venue, the safri etc are fixed, and if its what you really want to do, then it will be worth it for you. One thing ive been worried about is regretting not doing what I really want to do, rather than just a conveyer belt wedding, so if thats what you want - go for it0 -
i know just what u mean! its something i might regret not doing if i opt out, BUT it might be something i do regret doing when we have no money left afterwards LOL xx:dance:

jemmaali, I haven't decided on my dress budget yet - it's having to wait until we have sorted out the budget for more important things like food, photographer, travel and accomodation etc. I'm making my own dress (link to the pattern earlier in this thread if you want a sneak peek) so will just have to budget for fabric, decorative bits like beads, and little essential things like thread and a zip. Silk by the metre is insanely priced (easily £20+ per metre) and I'd need probably around five metres. I've got this fantasy that I find an oyster silk dressing gown (because they have the fewest seams and the largest amount of fabric) in a large size on ebay for a bargainous price which I can take apart! Here's hoping...
natc, we have an excel spreadsheet too, currently entitled 'Argh!'. It doesn't even have everything on it yet and we're already over budget  Some rethinks needed methinks!
I would love to be that creative but im not blessed in that department!!!!
Its reasurring to see other people have turmoil with budget, i honestly thought by doing it abroad I would getaway with a smaller budget but to make sure my guests feel look after I will have to find some more money!!!
Well I think I need to check my wedding dress budget my dress was £2400.!!:eek: Didnt know if this was the norm or not!! I have truely fallen in love with it, so I may try and find it off preloved.com.
You ladies are so right as soon as its "Wedding" everything is loads more

:rotfl:Cant win can you! Better to have done it than to have not...i should not be encouraging you....sorry!!!0 -
£2400!! wow thats must be some wedding dress!! lol, also some people make 'replicas' and can be only a quarter of the money. i think most dresses are around the £800? just guessing but alot are cheaper, and theres the sales etc...im hoping on £500 or less LOL
lol so how long has everyone been engaged?
I though i had the longest engagement ever at almost 7 years LOL
yup and its true about the 'wedding' part....though im a cake maker, and i have to admit my wedding cakes are slightly dearer than birthday cakes....but thats because some people opt for traditional fruit cake (which is alot dearer than sponge!) and because i cover each cake TWICE in icing rather than just once, i also use stronger supports than normal cakes. but even when ive done all that and added it up, ive made a £900 cake with a price tag of only £175.....the bride was mega chuffed!
