Congrats EmmyLou you sound v organised.
Joanne in wonderland are you getting maried in Scotland? I just wondering if you can book a registrar before you give notice and do your paperwork? Some people have said you can only book a registrar 3 months before the wedding!! (which would freak both me and OH out as got family coming from overseas).:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -
Hi Scotsbride
I am getting married in Scotland but we're having a Humanist wedding. I don't know how what when we register things to be honest but my understanding of registrars is that they can be booked in advance? Looking at my local council website the forms are submitted 15 days beforehand and then the fee's are payable but I think you could book for someone to perform the ceremony in advance. Prob best to look on your local council website and just give them a buzz to check and put your mind at rest. Stuff like that is stressful I'm hoping the person we've booked to perform the service will keep us right. Keep thinking must remember to ask my mum and OH mum for birth certificates so I know where they are!!

Hello all,
I've just had a thought; we have a lot of talented and knowledgeable people on this thread (no really, stop blushing), and some of the skills people have have been mentioned at various points over the thread. For instance, nuttymummy is a professional cake baker, and someone else (I think Fawny, but could be wrong!) is a travel agent. So, would it be a good idea for me to compile a list of what people are good at in relation to weddings so that we have a directory of members to contact (either via this thread or pm) for assistance or ideas?
I thought I could add it to the first post underneath the list of dates? Let me know if you think it's a good idea, and what skills you have that would be useful to others on here. Of course if you would rather not be involved then that is not a problem at all; I just think that it would be nice to have one place where you can find what expertise is available. Non-September-marrying lurkers (Tiara and Hadley1and any others) are welcome in this too if you'd like to offer your skills!

That is such a good idea and I feel very privilleged to be included as an honoury member
I love making cards and scrapbooking, so if anyone would like any help with card materials or designs etc then I would be more than happy to help if I can0 -
Hi,
It's a great idea, although i'm not a travel agent i'm a PA. As you know i'm getting marrried in Lindos & having been to Lindos/Pefkos every year for the last 5 years know a lot about the place, so happy to advise on things like that:DMarried the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -

Ah, sorry, I must be thinking of someone else then! I'm sure there's someone on here who's a travel agent..... :rotfl:
Right, I will start the list, and add to it as more responses arrive. I'll only name those who have said it's OK, even if I already know what they can do - I don't want to land anyone in it!Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

I've just checked in with this thread, never really get on laptop much and searching on my phone just tends to annoy me, anyway, wow you guys!!! You're all so organised, I have done literally nothing.
Well thats a lie, I've joined slimming world (Need to shift about 3/4 stone before the wedding, now the baby is here there is just no excuse!)
I've also found the favour boxes I'm going to get, (I can't post a link, as i'm still new?! But Kress2044 is selling them on eBay
Although gonna search around because I'm sure I saw them way cheaper from a hong kong shop!
Also decided i'm putting love hearts inside, I can get 200 on ebay for under £15, might buy them soon, so it's one less thing!!
But still havent found a venue, looked at dresses or anything, absolutely going to start though now.
I've got some catching up to do!!Thoughts become things!0
