well folks ive chosen orocco pier for my venue ! im really excited because it was where i wanted to get married but didnt think i could afford it, so maybe hawaii will be the honeymoon !
the only thing is ive now moved it to oct ,but by moving it 2 weeks i saved a fortune , so its now offically the 13th oct 2012:j
Fantastic news Lorna! :T We'll be sorry to lose you from our thread though, so please feel free to pop in still. We've also decided on Clifton College for our evening venue, which is v. exciting!! We can't believe we missed it until now - it's less than 5 minutes' walk from our day venue, and has everything we want - beautiful room, outside space, a separate room for chilling away from the music, flexibility re booze (cash & card bar; they supply and sell at a little below pub prices, but we can request certain things, like cider from the orchard where we got engaged :j). It's a bit more expensive than the other venues we were looking at, but they supply pretty much everything, and it doesn't really need any decoration. Only sticking point is the cost of the buffet, which we may have to negotiate on. But being able to tick 'find evening venue' off our to do list is HUGE!!!!! :j:j:jWOW everyone has been so busy on here!!
Love reading the debates about family etc, my mum has kicked off that one of my brothers cant come to Italy so am having a proper formal reception / evening over here! so its like two weddings!! the OH better do some overtime!! lol
Whats everyones thoughts on haggling with the price though? not sue if its the done thing? but I do love a bargain!!
Flying out to Itlay in October to book my wedding buy may have to pospone to May 13we both turn 30 next year along with our friends so is gonna be mental with parties, weekends away etc and unless I win the lotto I may have to wait!!
Thanks to whoever mentioned off beat bride thats right up my street
Another weird questions are you all taking your hubbys names? not sure what to do??
xxx
I feel for you Jemma - this year's a bit mental for us, with my 30th, H2B's parents' 40th anniversary, H2B's sister's wedding (with associated stag do for H2B to attend, and hopefully a hen do which I have heard nothing about, but I'd better be invited to, lol), and possibly another stag and hen party for our friends who are marrying early next year. Meanwhile, H2B is trying to pay off debt, and I am supposed to be saving for a wedding on a part-time shop assistant's wage... *tries to decide whether to laugh or cry* :rotfl: We'll get there - I'll just have to sell everything but the clothes on my back - you lot think I'm jokingH2B, the wag, having stopped for petrol last night, got back in the car saying 'I've thought of a plan to pay for the wedding', and handed me a scratchcard :rotfl: Needless to say he wasted a quid....
You'll be missed if you do have to postpone - hope you'll stick around though.
Glad you like offbeat bride - I'm in the Tribe but haven't actually been on the forum yet! Just been reading the blog posts, but it's brilliant to see how people make their weddings their own.
As for taking his name - yes I will be (I quite like his name, and I'll be alliterative which I think is kind of cool), but I am considering either using my maiden name professionally (when I stop being a shop assistant and do something creative!) or having my maiden name as a second middle name, and giving our children the same name as their second middle name, or possibly both. I did consider double-barrelling it, but decided I can't be bothered with writing such a long name every day!
It's a difficult decision, and in my mind the only truly equal way of dealing with it is for the couple to both change their names, so neither gets to keep their name and they create a new one, perhaps out of a combination of both their names. But few men would be amenable to that one I think! I did mention it half-jokingly to H2B, and he wasn't taken with the idea!!!

£80+VAT for photos! as mention in a previous (Prices have changed) which I think is a bit step and checky if they are planning on adding this on top have asked for confirmation as to what exactly is included in this package.
Went with OH to see this venue it more amazing than I could imagine. we can get married anywhere in the grounds that we would like using the house which has views over the gardens and out across the hills. Any way Linda who we saw was fabalous at answering all my questions. The £80 + VAT for photos last years price was only if you were getting married somewhere else and wanted to have your photos taken there.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -

Hey ladies how are we all?
Sounds like plans are coming along nicely White Sapphire your venue sounds lush as does your Scots Bride eek so exciting isn't it? I wish Sept 2012 was closer but it will rush round I'm sure! My shoes arrivedSO pleased they are just what I was hoping for so chuffed with them but they are packed safely away from prying eyes....including mine! Dress shopping is next! Seen a beautiful Justin Alexander dress which I LOVE so scared to try on in case the style does not suit though eek....the price is also scary as never seen his dresses when been with friends so no idea of even a ball park figure...so worried it's not in budget!
Horrible day up here in Aberdeen SO windy like I think my roof might blow off! I am also off work with a bad throat infection so I'm extra grumpy hence the cheering on here. It has worked thanks girls!!

Hi Joanne! :hello:
You can't tell us you've bought your shoes and then not post a picture - it's against the rules!!! lol
Good luck with your dress hunting, and hope that your throat recovers - chocolate is very good for soothing a sore throat
