STILL haven't started making the invitations yet :eek:0 -
me four! i made my first invite, its fine apart from i couldnt cut the ribbon straight my scissors arent sharp enough, the ribbons too thick for them. what are you using to cut your ribbon? shall i just get a new pair of scissors? do i need a special cutter thing for ribbon?
im waiting for my order of the days to arrive from vistaprint, they emailed the other day to say theyve been shipped early so im like a kid waiting for xmas only its not xmas its the post, alas nothing today, its also got monogrammed envelope seals and a pen for the guests to write in the book with ooo hurry up!
ive done a few things since my last to do list, sorry if ive mentioned them before but...
picked up dress
bought wedding insurance
bought glue gun, ribbon and buckles for invites
cut up invite mat, mount and inserts
booked cake maker
bought gorgeous vintagey looking brooch for cake ribbon and my shoes all for bargain price of under £5!
bought dried petals for tables after seeing the confetti sale post by another user and they came two days after!
erm i think thats it?
so to do....havnt got enough time to write it lolI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Roz, you've just made me feel a bit better about the invites! We've been having a 'mare with the stencil, but it's almost there now. The wording is done, so just a case of printing a dummy to make sure the alignment and spacing are right, then setting up a production line!
We WILL get them out by the end of this week, we WILL. *determined face*
H2B has been very busy with the website, so we're hoping to open that up when the invites go out too. He also ordered his suit today, and is basically being far more organised about this whole wedding thing than I am!
Off to parents on Thursday to work on my dress, so more pictures soon! Then going shopping on Friday with Mum and MiL2B for hats and fascinators, possibly including my hairpiece. Might have a mooch around shoe shops too, for something purple and vintagey to wear...
Next on the list is my Hen; fairly sure what I want to do, but a date needs to be decided soon before we all get booked up with other stuff.
Right, I'm off to find the card I bought months ago to make the invites from, which I know I've put in a 'very safe place' *gulp*

Bubbles your shoes look amazing!!!!
OK pulled myself together a little bit and ordered the rest of the stuff for the venue decor (table centrepieces, candle holders for the alcove windows, 8hr tealights etc) so that's one thing ticked off.
Need to pop in to Hobbycraft this week and get some Vellum glue dots to stick my organza ribbon with, and then I can start on the invitations. My plan is to assemble the wallets over three nights next week, then Jubilee weekend I'll stick the ribbon & print the inserts... It better be rubbish weather or I'll end up in the garden :rotfl:
My life seems to have suddenly got very sociable - I'm out every evening this week and away at the weekend seeing my sisters, then next week I'm out Tuesday & Thursday, and then Friday it's June :eek:0 -

How are you going to do your invites? Are you using pre-made pocketfold cards or are you going to make them yourself (or ask your friend to make them)?
I ordered 50 pocketfold cards (for day invites) and 100 gatefold cards (for evening) as well as matching stock card for the pocket inserts. My friend designed them and printed everything direct to the cards, but you can easily do this yourself by printing onto stock card and sticking this onto the pocketfold. Inserts are equally easy, print them onto stock, cut to size and slip in the pocket!

^^ These guys have great cheap(ish) cards and even better, they give you all the dimensions and loads of help in making your inserts to the right size and stuff. Even if you don't order from them, it's a brilliant site to nosy about for ideas and how-to's!
I've been rethinking my jacket-thing to go with the wedding dress!
Initially, I was going to ask the dress shop to make me a bolero jacket to go with it, but they've already said they probably don't have the exact fabric so will just have to go 'best fit' with what they can find.
Now recently, I've seen some of the jackets the shop makes, and I'm not convinced at all. They seem very stiff and... I dunno.. boxy? Too formal, too... sort of... 'I'm covering up because I don't like my arms'. (which is exactly what I'm doing, but I don't want it signposted so much!)
So instead, I thought maybe I'd look at some nice cardigan shrugs and things, something softer. My dress is simple strapless A-line in champagne, or pale gold. very little frills or sparkles!
I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, so far: One and Two.
What do you guys think? I'm wavering between "they're really pretty!" and "maybe a cardigan isn't 'special' enough..." any opinions?Life on a shoestring!0
