your status and occupation can have an effect of insurance quotes. E.G unemployed is a quote increaser, unemplyed due to illness or disablity can reduce a quote by about 2-5%. not every insurers lets you select your exact occupation. your status, being single compare to married can affect your quote i.e being married (genuinly) reducing a quote. common law domestic partner with children also reduces quotes, but your sitaution has to be as that not just putting it down as it cos it reduces a quote.
fiesta is the most common thing in the world for young drivers to insure!
youll probably find it cheaper to insure a omega 2.5 V6 estate cheaper! but lets face it not economical by all means.
since the Vat rise, and absolute intergration of the new grouping most average premiums have risen by £800 in somecases.
ask youself if you really need things like curtesy car, windscreen cover.
instead of big brand insurers have you tried your local broker?
the excess on new drivers is extortionate anyway have you tried raising you excess?
selecting thatcham 1 alarms is all good but insurers will want to see a certificate, so if you save £200 by selecting it, but costs 300-£400 in buying and fitting you wont really save will you.
my OH brother (20) has just bought a fiesta MK2 off the internet, has got classic cars insurance on it. he pays £459 after calling them to alter from what they require. so usually it has to be garaged and do less than 6000 miles, but having it altered to kept on drive (as it is) and 9000 miles a year added only slightly increased the quote with a drink drive conviction (no slating please ive bollecked him enough for it without me having to take the grit too) downside he earns zero NCB but with low quotes like that even if he had any wont make alot difference.
i cant insure a ford focus 1.4 16V 4dr its way too expensive for me (27 male) its a shocking £1800 a year, with Named drivers discount, but a 2.0 turbo volvo s40-s60/v40 v60 is way way cheaper with big named insurers being just shy of £500, will be hunting the local brokers also.0 -
