i do school buses for special needs, hence split shifts, take kids to and from school, im all for doing hires with other companies, however you need min 10 hrs off between shifts, max day can be 10 hrs driving over 16, so if you start at 7 am and finish school at 5pm you find it hard to take on ahire in eve that fiinsishes before 9pm, but that would not give enuff rest before 7 am start in morn, say you did hire on sunday no prob, but hire must end before 9pm do be able to do school on mon at 7am. trying to ge sat hire would be best bet.
my original question relates to only myself working , if partner looses job as she is on trial period.
my trade is a pcv driver and tend to land school or contract jobs easily, but try take on a job that isnt my trade and i get beaten at interview, hard to also find someone that wants you between say 10 am till 2 pm so it fits around schools bus

Tax Credits are there to enable employers to be able to cut their wage bill by paying NMW with the knowledge that their employees will get a top-up from the Govt.
    Surely everyone knows that.

if that was the case then evryone working 16hrs can get top up, i cant unless i suddenly have a child in my relationship,I must find a job at 30hrs and my local job centre says most jobs at mo are pt time, few full time.and its hard to have 2 pt time jobs as it means beating not just all the applicants for the 1st job, but also the 2nd pt time job your chasing after.and then each pt time job must coincide the hours of each other, even if one job meant it was out of sync by say one hour, then you wont get taken on by employer.even harder it if involves tachographs and drivers hours.hence my decision to work online with ebay shop between my split shifts.
it seems the credits are aimed for those with kids.

Because, quite possibly, those with kids on a minimum wage job need more money to, er, feed and cloth the children. It's not just about clothes its about buying cots, pushchairs, bed linen as well as the usuals like food and clothes. If they are at school and you get WTC you do not get free school dinners so those have to be paid for. Of course people with children need more money. You are an adult, and as such, should be able to support yourselves. If your job is one that you cannot get a part time job around it, then find another full time one and give your notice where you are. It is what you have to do when you do not have enough money to live.

finding a fulltime isnt like piciking a college course, you can apply and apply and get beaten for along long time,
kids dont just need food yousay, my friends (babies excluded) spends about £20 week on her sons clothes n food) and she simply makes a sandwich for his school lunch, she doesnt buy new bed linen evry 7 days,
yes alot of parents have better
furnisdhed houses than those that cant claim
I would like to see shopping vouchers issued instead of cash in ur bank.
the same way i know some seperated parents do for their exes before she or he spends the cash on hairdo, ,bingo,or their new boy/girlfriend and it then def goes on food and clothes on their child

  • It looks to me that your partner may not "lose" her job... but reduce her hours when you have enough money to live on after getting the tax credits ................ HMRC are on to this, but it is very very hard to prove that you are not working the extra hours as everyone works at a different speed !
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

hopefully she will get past her 3 months trial period, her job is 40 hours or none at all, thats the contract.
as for kids costing more when they get older, my parents never had tax credits and i dont remember getting hundreds on my weekly cost to cloth and feed me and we managed ok.

I wish my kids only cost me £20 a week.

You are now starting to sound VERY bitter and if the only reason for wanting to claim is so you can prove a point then go ahead, if you get caught you'll have to pay it back.

Of course, you could just get your girlfriend (who is working full time remember so you'll not get anything anyway - unless of course she 'looses' her job) pregnant and then you'll be quids in!! Yay!!

Your parents received tax allowances for having children.
