Actually BG haven't raised all prices on there tariffs, the essential tariff hasn't seen a rise for a while although they also haven't had decreases like some did last year. They have frozen any rises until April 2011 on that tariff

Also expecting some time this Spring a £50 bonus

    http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/energy/our-tariffs/essentials-programme.html

Around 340,000 customers on our Essentials discounted tariff will receive a £50 credit on their winter bill.

    do you mean 2011?

also, can any individual sign up to the 'essentials package'? or is it for the elderly, people on benefits etc.?

  • anyone having trouble entering their Nectar card number? keeps coming up with message saying card number is wrong, please check and try again - there are more numbers on the card than there is space to enter tho, have tried first lot then end lot, no dice! Yes sorry I meant 2011

You have to be on a low income and or have some one with a disability. All major providers supply social tariffs and may have different criteria to what BG has

Some online tariffs may be just as cheap though
