Rear fog lights...

Why do people insist on driving with their rear fogs on even when the fog has shifted?

Cars hould be fitted with a REALLY big warning light on the dash board! Or the drivers seat should vibrate!

Same could be said of the front fogs that come on when it gets dark.

Personally I only ever use them when the visability is really bad ie less than 50yds, and if and when a car does come behind me then I turn them off so as not to dazzle them.

  • Some spanner last night on the M53 thought it'd be fun to keep flashing his front fogs at me cos I didnt have my rears on. Yes it was foggy, but I could see over 500 meters!

Amazing how many drive with fog lights on when you can see the moon.

It could be accidental. I switched mine on with my knee when I got in the car and never noticed until people behind kept flashing.

I've never felt the need to use mine, the only time they're switched on is during it's MOT.

Fog lights (front or rear) on in good visibility are a fairly good sign of either an inattentive driver, or one who doesn't know the law, or one who doesn't care. Either should be gven an extra few metres, just in case.

One exception is the front fog lights on when the car involved has only one headlight working. That shows that the driver has noticed the faulty headlight and is mindful of the need to see and be seen by others. As a temporary measure until the headlight bulb can be changed, I would accept this as "duress of circumstances".

People are idiots, what can you do? And that includes the front foglight brigade.
