My minds gone blank (happens a lot lately lol) - you don't need a full bladder at the 20 week scan do you?Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

I didn't! But I'd had a bit to drink beforehand and it made things awkward for the sonographer so I had to go for a pee and completely empty my bladder!
So I would say no - although have a quick small drink beforehand (sugary if poss to get baby moving for you and make things more interesting!) and a bar of choc (works wonders with their movement - wish I'd known this at my first scan when baby slept through the whole thing!).
Enjoy your scan!0 -
morning all,
hope you're all well and had nice weekends.
Thanks for all the ebay advice! We had a good chat with the seller about condition of the buggy etc and bought it - £195 for the baby style oyster with buggy, colour packs, 2x footmuffs, raincovers, maxi cosi adaptors and carry cot!! It's in really good condition, used for 18 months. I am so in love with it but keeping it at my nan's house as OH thinks its bad luck to keep it at home!
Something for you to bear in mind Hopelass if you're keen on the Oyster - check ebay if you don't mind second hand! I really wanted the Oyster but couldn't afford £400 for a new one.
Re hayfever, I posted this on the big pregnancy board but will repeat here:
Personally I went to the Doctor's and got Beconase nasal spray prescribed. Doc checked and said it's safe but to use sparingly. (obviously there's no definite answers about which meds are ok as there are no clinical trials on pregnant ladies!) But he said nasal spray is the preferred option as it's not ingested like tablets, it's a topical treatment (up yer nose!) You can also get eye drops which I find helpful as I flush my eyes out with them when they get itchy. I asked in boots pharmacy for eye drops that are safe in pregnancy and they found some Blink intensive tears for me
(NB - Not offering any medical advice here, just personal experience, best to always check with you doctor or pharmacist!)
I also agree with fluffysox about sunglasses and vaseline.
Good luck at your scan Lozza. I had a bit of water from a bottle in the car on the way, but I don't think a full bladder is needed as baby is much bigger at 20 weeks than 12 and easier to see.0 -
Hi, good luck on the scans today Lozza & misscoupon!
Lozza - nope don't need a full bladder. That is just for the first scan according to my sonographers (even though they asked me to empty at the first scan.... and when I hadn't drank anything at the second they said 'we told you it wasn't required'... eep)
Good luck for it! They just take measurements and make sure they can see everything.
I had to hop out and go for a 10minute walk in mine to try to stop him hiding his face, but when I came back he had curled up worse and I have to go back in 2 weeks so they can check his face although they think it will just be a box-ticking exercise (and also so I can get my pictures :T)
I went a bit bargain crazy at the weekend and found a new Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix car seat on Ebay nearby that I got for £13.50
Also on one of the FB groups I found someone giving away HUGE bundles of clothes for newborn that lives round the corner from me... who said when the 3-6month bundle is ready she'll drop them by.
Just need to sort out a cotbed and some stair gates and I think I've got quite the collection of stuff!
Haven't built a wall for the room yet though.....................0 -
At my local hospital it states on the letter for the 20 week scan that you must have a full bladder prior to the scan. It varies from hospital to hospital so it maybe worth phoning up to check.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

No didn't need a full bladder In the end, they didn't manage to do all the checks though as winegum refused to move her head to a better position so got to go back in 3 weeks. Everything else was fine though so I'm sure itll be fine, and means another chance to see her and more time off workAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Aww congrats on the scan Lozza.
Sorry tmi alert.
I've been having a bit of snotty looking discharge when i wipe. I know it's normal to have cervical mucus but is this normal? Sorry, I warned it was gross! XDS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -
Vic it might be the start of thrush. I've just got over mine, never had it before so it got pretty bad before I got a docs appointment. If you see your doc they'll be able to check and give you a prescription for a pessary if needed.0
