jwil - oh no, I haven't even thought about childcare costs yet! will you be working full time once your little once is here? i'm glad i wasn't the only one that thought the prices were a bit steep. A car seat can only be used for 9 months as well and like you say you want to buy one new so you can't sell it on afterwards . . .

Yes, I will be working full time. Can't afford not to at the moment which is a shame.

    Hey everyone :)

I've got my 20 week scan on Wednesday, I'm half excited that we will hopefully find out whether baby is a boy or a girl, but I'm also very nervous that something will be wrong. We haven't started buying yet either, and want to get the scan over first (though I have been taking advantage of some of the baby club offers from various organisations!)

Findingmyownway - hope the viewing went well, and you get an offer!

    Hope everyone is well :)

I read our maternity policy at work and felt really pressured into telling them as soon as possible. Have you told your family? Good luck telling people, I still feel funny about it although everyone has been really happy for me.

LittleElvis I went in to see one job today, they where really nice and supportive! although my line manager was joking that i make her feel old coz she has known me since i was about 10 and iv been working there since i was 16. Just one job to go and i'll have to tell them monday as my manager is off today, need to book next friday off too.
My Mums side of the family all know now but Dads side dont know yet, but they will soon enough.

Have you told work and family?

It's super quiet on here, probably because a lot of us are posting on the Facebook group, so I thought I'd mention it, in case any of the graduates from the 12 weeks thread came looking for us.

  • jwil - hope your 20 week scan goes okay today. Let us know what you are expecting! how long did the scan take? I saw something the other day where it took someone an hour and a half because the baby kept wriggling!!

ellie1788 - glad telling work went well. how did your other work take the news? I told work at 12 weeks and they are all really supportive. i've forgotten what anyone spoke to me about before i was expecting! My boss has just found out that there may not be enough budget to replace me while i'm on maternity leave so i'll see if the niceness remains!!

    Hope everyone is well.

Thanks LittleElvis, it went well and only took about 20-30 minutes I think.

It's a boy! So we are very excited now :)

I told my manager 2 days ago, she was really supportive, but iv asked her not to tell the boss until after iv had my scan on Friday. Even though i don't have a contract she said that i could see how i felt and what i wanted and talked about coming back after having the baby so overall very positive. Helps that she had a baby last year so knows what im going through although she was surprised i kept quiet so long, and was laughin coz she was having a go at me for being on slimming world and eating maccies a few weeks ago.

*peeps around door and waves hallo*

Had my official dating scan today and all was well, Pip was wriggling about and kept moving out the way so the sonographer got me to do a few aerobics to try and encourage Pip back into the limelight, so popping up to this thread.

We're going to tell our families now and it seems like this time it's really going to happen :)

Woo congrats Saffagirl, and welcome! I had to do something similar at our gender scan the other day - lots of star jumps and kind of press ups! Very funny! I swear they are doing it for a laugh!! ;)
