  • Oh wow, thanks ikkle. That looks excellent! I'll make sure I save that link.

The ones I was looking at (thanks to the Bounty pack) were around £150!!

Hi LittleElvis, congratulations. It's easy to get carried away when looking at baby things but it doesn't have to cost a fortune, honest! There are usually regular sales on at Mothercare etc, supermarkets do pretty good value vests and sleepsuits and borrowing stuff is good.

Thank you, are the sales on regularly? I didn't want to start buying anything until after the 20 week scan to be on the safe side but also don't want to try and cram everything in and panic buy. What has everyone else done?
  • Welcome to all the newbies and lurkers! I have forgotten who everyone is now. Silly baby brain.

Sillysausage - that is awesome news. Really glad everything went ok and babies are looking good.

LittleElvis - don't worry the sales are fairly regular depending on what you are looking for. Our 1st stage car seat did DS until he was 14 months and he was a pretty big baby to start with. The base for his seat also did the next stage seat as well so we got all three together and got a really good discount. It's a bit daunting when you first start looking but it all comes down to what you have to have and what you want to have. These are two very separate lists! Lol! There is a lot of advice (and this board, the pregnancy one and the newborn one are all brilliant places to start) on what is essential but at the end of the day your circumstances are unique to you and you have to choose what will suit you, your baby and your budget best.

Hi everyone. Can I join please? I'm 15+5 today. First baby and have just realised how naieve I have been in how much a baby costs!!

Luckily have a sister-in-law who has lots of bits she can give us but I'm sure there are bits that we will need to buy and could do with some advice for that and the general pregnancy from any experienced ladies out there!!

  • Bump, this thread is very quiet.

Heard the heartbeat yesterday at midwife appt (16+4) so all happy campers here. Looking forward to 20 week scan and then going to start spending I think! We have a viewing for our house today so fingers crossed they make an offer, would love to move before xmas.

I think this pregnancy lark is finally sinking in :-)

9 days till my 20 weeks scan, still hasn't quite sunk in though, although i can now feel a bump, going to have to tell work and everyone soon, i'v been putting it off as long as possible but it will be obvious soon.

  • findingmyownway - that's my plan too, wait til the 20 week scan then start buying things, although I keep finding myself wandering down baby aisles and struggling not to buy things!
Hope the house viewing went well, I don't envy you can't imagine moving house now, I'm so tired!

ellie1788 - I read our maternity policy at work and felt really pressured into telling them as soon as possible. Have you told your family? Good luck telling people, I still feel funny about it although everyone has been really happy for me.
