Sorry didn't see that had been said already!

Just catching up post holiday,I think everyone has been added to the Fb group that has requested it so far, anybody else, let me know!

  • I'm a true Yorkshire lass, tight!!! Therefore, I'm too tight to pay to go to SW or WW (even though I could do with losing a stone or so). Although I've started eating again these last few weeks, I haven't put any weight on (sorry guys), infact, am still -11lbs from MS.

How are your bumps coming along? I'm not sure I have one:(. When I wake up, my tummy feels hard and as if there is a bump there. But, by the time I get up and have got to work its gone, just feels like my usual spare tyre!! My trousers do feel a bit uncomfortable when I'm sat though!!

I'm also very nervous about my 20 week scan, a week on Fri. Paranoid something will be wrong.

    Hope you've had a great holiday 2b

re Mums comments, I've had a couple - one 'you're definetly (sp?) filling out' and another after she'd not seen me for a week - 'you're definetly (sp?) getting fatter'. I know what she meant though, they're just not always that tactful!

Penguin83, can I ask what your BMI is? The only reason I ask is professional, I'd be concerned about me advising weight loss in pregnancy as its not recommended by the guidelines. Has she referred you to a dietitian? If not you can request one

Slimming World is recommended by midwives and GP's in pregnancy. I know of several people who have been given the ok to continue with it, obviously for some people they may not lose but it may prevent them from gaining loads.

Slimming World isn't a diet more a healthy eating plan, you aren't depriving yourself of anything. You aren't supposed to have any more calories any way until the 3rd tri, and even then it's only 300 a day, which is very little.

No problems it is currently 48 down from 51 which is the highest I have ever been in my whole entire life I am ashamed to say and much, much higher than when I had my previous children. I was offered to be referred to a dietician but the midwife was happy for me to continue with Slimming World but did recommend that I just aim to maintain my weight rather than lose. She also advised on suitable exercise (swimming or walking for now), weekly blood pressure tests and a glucose tolerance test at 26 weeks. I am very active and mobile and want to get as healthy as I can during pregnancy and afterwards.

Good luck penguin. I'm higher than average BMi, not as high as yours but high none the less and I know how hard it can be, especially of you get midwives and doctors who are not supportive. I've gained 7lb so far this pregnancy which I'm happy with and I'm sure you will do great too xx
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Penguin, my BMI is 40 something as well. I think it was 46 but I've lost weight so far so it might be a little less now. My MW and consultant gave me the same advice as you (except I'm not having the blood pressure checks). I am hoping to start following the SW principles, but so far have been so ill I've just been eating whatever I can.

My doc and MW just said don't crash diet and eat healthily - all which fits in with SW.

I'm lucky in that so far I've had no problems with comments or attitude. I think it may be partly because I went in there and said that I know my weight is a problem, this was unexpected and I had hoped to lose weight before TTC. Hoping it stays that way though!

Ikkle - you've done really well to only have put on 7 pounds!

Been following my healthy eating plan for 2 days and I feel
So much better. Just need to stick to it now and hope I don't put on much more than I already have.

Have my 20wk scan at 8.30 this morning even though I think I'm 21 weeks. Quite nervous but hopefully all will be ok

Good luck zcrat - are you going to find out what you're having?
