Claireloo I've had a mix of people for and against finding out but in the end we (I really!) decided to go with what we (I really!!) want to do. Let's hope bubs cooperates! Have you bought many bits?

I keep meaning to ask - how long is everyone having on mat leave?

They didn't ask me if I wanted to know - I had to ask right at the end. From my experience it wasn't obvious - I had no idea what I was looking at!

As much as I like the idea of finding out at the birth in reality I am far too impatient and wanted to know! I think I would have cried if I couldn't find out today!

9 months plus my annual leave tagged on at the start. I'd love to take the full year but in reality we will struggle whilst im getting paid so to drop to nothing is going to be impossible for us - if a lottery win comes my way though....:D

Sonographer said they are never 100% certain but she checked and then did something else and then went back and checked again and said "definitely looks like a girl".

We found out with this one .... it was a very obvious boy There was no mistaking what was 'there' on the scan :rotfl:

I think they are more sure with boys than girls because of the obvious presence of 'parts'

I couldn't not know! Though they did tell me DD1 was a boy.. 3 times! I went for an extra scan at 23 weeks with DD3 purely to find out the sex because if she was a boy she was staying at the hospital.. I needed to know and the 2 I haven't know with I hated it.. everyone asks 'what you having' and never believe you when you say you don't know! I did also like knowingin order to plan the clothes etc (ok.. knit the cardigans) because they lived in white sleepsuits until 3 months anyway.

I'm having 39 weeks plus some leave on the end - can't afford to be off unpaid as hubby is a student so there's only me that works

Cool, so they're pretty sure then. I guess they'd never commit to being certain.

Re mat leave I'll only be off for 5 months in total because we get absolutely no benefits at work and we have only managed to save enough for me to be off that long. However I think my hours will reduce when I go back and we have the two grannies for childcare. I wish I could be off longer but without that illusive lottery win that'll be my lot!

I feel like I'm permanently wishing my pregnancy away. I'm desperate to get to 20 weeks and have the scan and then I'm sure to be wishing for the next milestone - viability at 24 weeks? I should just enjoy it I know but I'm such an impatient mare!!
