    Hi Ladies,

Writing this feeling upset and worried. Just been for my scan, baby still hasn't changed position, was sent away for a coffee and choc bar, but still no change. Baby was happy and kicking away, but not in a good position so that they can see the spine or brain. I am re-booked to see the Consultant for another scan and appointment in 2 weeks time. The sonographer also said that I now have a low lying placenta, it is covering the birth canal. She said I would need to be re-scanned at 32 weeks, I've been booked in on the 22nd December for that scan! If the placenta hasn't moved (and knowing my luck it won't have done!) I will be booked in for a c-section at 36 weeks. Noticed on the confirmation letter that I have to drink 2 pints before this scan! 2 pints at 32 weeks pregnant is going to be fun!! :rotfl:

I was really upset when they told me this, I didn't want a c-section and didn't want to spend a long time in hospital. I know they are safe and women have them every day, I just had visions of my own labour and delivery and wanted to avoid a c-section at all costs.

Don't even know why I feel as sad as I do, feeling like nothing is going right and I just feel sad. :(

Good luck emmylou - hope you have a good scan and don't have a naughty baby like me!!

Aww Jannine it must be such a worry for you - on the up side if baby hasn't moved you will have 4 weeks less of the pregnancy and can meet your bundle of joy sooner. I know the recovery time is a lot slower but try and see the positives. Good luck honey.

Morning all, hope everyone is doing well.

I FINALLY got the results from my bloods and we have a 1 in 44624 chance of having a baby with downs or spina bifida. I know they always say 'low' risk and there's never no risk but i'm happy with those numbers :)

A lovely bloke i work with has just brought me in a car seat, iso fix base and a pushchair for nothing! They are fab! I already have car seat, base and a pushchair for us to use new but the car seat and base will be fab for my mum and the pushchair is going to MIL who is looking after the baby 3 days a week when i go back to work (in January 2013 but i like to be prepared :))

About appointments i have MW at 6 (just a group session to pick up folder) 8 weeks booking in, should have been 16 weeks but couldn't get appt until 18 then i have another at 25 and after that i'm not too sure. Scan at 12+4 including consultant appointment, scan at 21, scans at 28, 32 and 36 all with consultant appointments after. Love the fact i get to see the bean again :)

Yeah, good news DP. Wonder how they work the figures out, mine was 1 in 100,000 I would have a baby with DS.

I hadn't thought of it like that, so thanks, that has cheered me up a little! Just back at work and can't concentrate at all, going to be no use to anybody today. I had no idea that pregnancy would be a time of such worry and stress!

Wouldn't worry too much Jannine, my consultant was amazing and could see things that the radiographer couldn't despite the baby being in the same position! So you may get lucky :)

    Hello All :j
Emmylou - good luck with the scan !

Jannine - Sorry ur bubs is being naughty! as gilly says hopefully your consultant will do a better scan. The c section thing is not an absolute yet so things may change so try not to worry and if you do then it will be good to see bubs earlier as has been said.

    All -
Had 2 initial appts with Gp's
9wks MW (should be 10) for booking in appt
13wks (normally 12) dating scan (opted not to have nuchal)
    16wks MW Gen Checks
    21wks (normally 20) Anomaly scan
22wks Consultant due to high bmi, did random glucose etc
    24wks GP Gen checks
25wks - flu jab  just thought I would throw that one in there...
To come I have 27wks (normally 28) MW Gen Checks (antiD for Rhesus neg), 28wks Glucose Tolerence Test due to high bmi, 31wk Gp, 34wk MW, 36wk MW, 38wk GP, 40wk MW, 41wk MW
plus Anesthetics appt Nov due to high bmi not sure what week that is. I have not got any further consultant appts, only to go back if problems develop also I may have a growth scan if needed but thats all folks  for now!!!!!

Hubby has enjoyed watching the birthwise dvd so far ;) he actually turned the volume up when they were saying what things would be useful to take to hospital eg 3!!! pillows, mat, towels (its not a hotel you know!) evian water spray etc hubby now thinking he needs to take his *enormous* rucksack (he is a walker..) just got visions of going to hospital with hubby trying to manhandle me in whilst being buried under his rucksack and the hospital worried that we wont ever leave with that amount of stuff:rotfl::rotfl: hubby was getting a bit worried when she was going on about it being not the best position to lie flat on the bed (its all about maximising your pelvis opening & ur tail bone thingey not hurting if you lie on it) when she mentioned one of the positions some people do is sort of standing think he is worried baby is going to 'hit the deck' and hurt itself :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I said dont worry you can always catch it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Oh dear think thats is a long enough post for now...

Mine is low, though not that low. Just looked at my notes and it says 'close to'. I was told the majority of them move up as you get bigger, so try not to worry till you know it is a definite problem. :) Easy for me to say of course as mine wasn't actually covering! :D

Hello, Im coming to join you ladies from the less than 12 week thread. I went for my scan yesterday thinking I was 11+5 and the scan put me at 13+3 instead! I ve done a whole extra week and a bit without even knowing! :)
My next scan is now booked for 29th November.
Apparently my placenta is sitting in front of the baby which they didnt make too big a fuss of at this stage but I do hope it moves as I really dont want to end up having a c section.
I got in to trouble with the sonographer for not drinking enough also - I thought I had as I really needed a wee but apparently not and she made me sit outside again for a further 20 minutes and drink some more!
Does anyone know what is considered to be an increased BMI in pregnancy? Mine is now up to 29 which the midwife said was fine but then the sonographer wrote that the increased BMI had made the scan difficult to do. I will ask my MW but Im not due to see her again for another 2 weeks and Im worried it will cause complications. My blood pressure is fine so hopefully not but Im not really sure.

If you give me your due date Charli I will add you to the list. I was told BMI above 30 is considered increased but I think it does depend on area. :)
