  • hi everyone hoping i can join you. i think im about 13 weeks pregnant and got my booking appointment this morning, not looking forward to it, its my 4th baby and im adament i want a home birth but with being overweight ive got a feeling im going to have some opposition from the midwifes, has anyone got any experience of dealing with this? i personally think ive got a strong reason for wanting a home birth ds1 was born after 4 hours of labour, dd was born at home with the help from a paramedic after being sent home from hospital an hour before birth (was told i wasnt in labour) and ds2 was born in the hospital lift my waters broke i had 2 contractions in 20 minutes and he arrived. anyone think my chances of getting the midwifes support will be good?

Happy birthday Gillyx, and good wishes to all those with scans coming up soon.

Welcome to normandleigh as well. Can't help with the homebirth though, this is my first and there's no way I was even considering having her at home, barring a big surprise!

Had my 25 week midwife appt yesterday. Was supposed to be at 4.40 and got in there at 5.30. Nothing unusual with the readings but did get bump measured for the first time. Baby had been dancing all day so I wasn't too surprised to hear a strong heartbeat.

Been referred for GTT and should get a date in about 3 weeks to sort that and the next blood tests, although not sure what they test for at that point. May as well get used to being poked and prodded, it's only going to get worse as time goes by!

    Quick question
Just drank some apple juice but something made me check the carton and it says "lightly pasturised". Is this still safe to drink?

  • Happy Brithday Gilly, have a lovely day!

I've been waking up annoyingly early recently but I'm usually not a morning person at all... anytime after 9 I can just about cope with :) Waking at 6am instead is a bit of a shock! Still, I suppose I should get used to it as I don't imagine I'll get much sleep after baby arrives.

Just under 3 hours until my scan, eek. Need to start drinking plenty of water!
