Just looking for a little advice on the 16 week appointment... I'd assumed, and from what I've googled, it does seem to be just a regular checkup, blood pressure etc, in and out in 5 mins.
But I wanted to try to move mine to later in the day, which they can't do as they're too busy, and the receptionist said that I should keep the appointment as the midwife is going to do 'the booking'. I've already had a booking in appointment, worked through reams of notes and so on, so what is it that is so important?
If it is just a regular checkup I am going to be so fed up, as I've just had to turn down a nice free break to the seaside, because they're arriving back about 3 hours after my appointment time.
Go to the seaside!!!!
Seriously.. they do BP, urine dipping and send you on your way.. it takes about 5 minutes... you can always change the appointment to the week after it makes no odds when you go. They redo bloods at 28 weeks and from about 20+ weeks they might listen in to baby's heartbeat..
The receptionist is talking out of her derriere as receptionists do.. she obviously knows nothing.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I very nearly cancelled it, till the receptionist said there was this 'booking' to do and told me I shouldn't. Since my scan I'm already a week late for my '16 week' appointment anyway, and she gave me the impression it was important to get whatever it is done. I can't see what there is to do? :huh:0

There isn't anything! Go out and enjoy your day with a clear conscience
If they had anything important to tell you, they wouldn't wait until a routine appointment to do so.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Wooo! Kimmymarky, three way bump buddy! I'm the same day as you as well! Looks like we will be in a race to see who pops first!
Are you both first timers as well?

Have rebooked for a week later, for some reason she's put me down as a long booking appointment which is why they couldn't fit it in later in the day. I wonder if it was a typo cos she was running extremely late and was flustered when I saw her for my booking.
The receptionist seemed a bit worried and said she'd have a word when she came in Thurs, I said ok, tell her I'll be around in the afternoon if she does need to see me.
P.s. it's not just a day out, it's two whole days of seaside, ice cream, and family. Definitely worth cancelling for, I should've just done it straight away.0 -

That's jammy! We could go to the beach today... but with 3 primary age kids and a baby it's more trouble than it's worth on my own! Think I'll wait till the weekend when OH can keep an eye on Squeak and I'll just take the older 3 :rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

You don't have to see the MW to get it done.. you can make an appointment with the GP ands/he will do it so you can go any day!

Certainly is!
Bless my favourite gran for retiring to the coast!
I'm having a definite craving for some apple crumble ice cream, don't think it is a pregnancy thing though, as my son wants to head straight for the "posh" ice cream stall too.
