Just popped in for a quick update before risking the woods with the dog again (...... he better behave today!......) - Welsh, sorry to hear about your grandma, hugs from the lily household.
MoneyPenny - my wee cat did that the other night.... on the cover that'd just been washed, she's moulting loads just now which I think is where the problem lies. Then the 2 of them had a big fight (they hate each other) and I ended up removing broken claws from the big ones face (which he wasn't too happy about). Sigh.... I do wonder why I have them sometimes but couldn't be without them.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

pearls of wisdom to my lovely evil friend
how about career - books around topic you're interested in, research on the ole tinternet, see if you can do some voluntary work (a day or two) somewhere you'd be interested in working, seeing if you can spend some time with someone who is doing what you'd like to do so you can get some mentoring out of them - its about lateral thinking lovely, education doesn't have to cost anything
contribution as above a bit of volunatry work, helping someone who needs a helping hand - its your interpretation.
and money well you're already working on that! xDF as at 30/12/16

Well, I had a spendy day yesterday - at the theatre and restaurant after - booked ages ago, so not something I could very easily avoid. I enjoyed it, and still managed to save the odd bit of money - bought train tickets direct to Waterloo instead of buying a travelcard (which I would normally have done), and took lunch with me instead of buying at the station. Then the rest of the day cost an arm and a leg.
SO - today is a NSD at the Stanley household. We've:
- all lunched on leftovers
- dinner is planned from menu
- I didn't buy a coffee at DD's footie match this morning (quite a habit that had become). Next week must remember to take a flask though.
- have sorted out dodgy radiator myself instead of calling in a plumber
- making bread for packed lunches at the beginning of the week
- laundry on airer, not tumble dryer.
I don't think it makes up for yesterday, but I'm pleased anyway.
Hope the rest of everyone's weekend goes well

Wow what a busy thread this weekend!!!
Welsh!! Sorry to hear this news, you've done really well to do all that you did, it's not easy but my blessings are with you and your family!!
Thanks Lillass for your kind words!!
Determined!
lots of wise words there regarding contributions, helping others no matter how small. I love volunteering, have been doing so, for a while now. It's an amazing thing about having a disability, it does change your life and perpective and everything I thought I could never do outdoors anymore, I brought those skills into the home volunteering. Our contribution can be anything that we want it to be, like you said, everything has value meaning!!! I try to find this in normal everyday things also
, like being here and just sharing what we do!! getting support and getting motivated!!!
Today, my daugther and I have roasted our chicken, for afternoon lunch.
We had a laugh as the potatoe I was trying to peel, dashed out of my hands and ended up on the floor, hehehe. My daughter said we could always have mash lol..................:D
Read some news,
Watched the Big question, I love that programme!!
Played beads with my Cat, he is now fast asleep ontop of my wardrobe, snuggled up to my Teddy!!
did some writing in my daily diary
phoned my mum for a quick chat.
The rest of day, just resting, maybe watch DVD with my daughter or doing some reading in bed.
Well thats me for this sunday. I am starving!!!! just love the smell of a roast dinner!!!
Have a great Sunday afternoon on and all, enjoy!!!:beer:0 -
            Helllllllllllllooooooooo out there!!
Not a very MSE weekend. We went out for a meal and drinks with friends to celebrate OH's birthday. Split the bill and came to £20 a person with having a buy one get one free meal!! OH and I always end up shafted in these circumstances! there was £50 worth of wine on the table which we dont drink. However our drinks weren't cheap in the end so i work out between us we had spend £28!! But paid £40!! But in the end the guy who spent the most compensated with buying extra drinks it probably evened out!
It was a really good night however! The girls stayed out at their Nannys so i have a huge lie in this morning.
Today
Out swimming - not a hugely expensive activity
Update myfitnesspal
MSE diary entry
Plan a few ideas for the lady making our wedding cake
Homework for the kids
Lunches and get organised for the morning
Go for a small walk or use wii fit
Dinner at MIL's
Ironing
Car on reading Wuthering Heights
Weight in tomorrow and i have eaten out 3 times this week!!!! To be honest i will be very lucky if i haven't put any on!!

            Hi all
Feeling a bit flat and de-motivated today so its quite nice to read about the things everyone else has achieved this weekend. Went for petrol last night and somehow ended up buying £4 worth of magazines for my boys, some doritos and a couple of other things which were completely unnecessary! Its just so easy to spend a tenner without thinking about it.
Today I have hung the washing out instead of using TD
Heating has just gone on for an hour but being really careful about it, we have oil heating and its costing a fortune.
Refused to buy food or drinks for sons at footie this morning, took drinks and snacks to last until we got home again. Smiled to myself when DS was eating his Tesco value crisps thinking that at one time I would have been embarrassed by people knowing I bought value stuff. Realised how much I have changed!!0 -

You reminded me of a conversation I had a few years ago. A friend of mine had taken up with a Tunisian guy and I ended up visiting his family 5 times in 3 years... Anyhow, he worked in restaurants and he told me that when people work out exactly how much their bit of the bill is, rather than splitting it 4 or 5 or however many ways, they call it the English way. :rotfl:
