Not a regular on these boards but me and OH have just worked out that instead of buying a Mcdonalds (as was tonight plan) we bought a Fray Bentos pie, new potatoes and peas costing only £1.78 for 2!
Plus, was mums birthday today, couldn't afford a present so baked her a cake with the children and got them to make their own cards. She loves things like this so means more to her than anything that could be bought!
Had a lovely (but cold) day in Bridgnorth with mum and only bought food for the guinea pigs even though I was tempted by things we saw in the charity shops and was very strict in saying NO to the kids when they wanted daft Mcdonalds toy out of the bargain baskets (we've had them all before and thrown them away lol)0 -
got several great bargains for next christmas!
crackers , cards and presents all with 75% off-crazy but true!;)
also invested in a couple of packets of seeds to save money later on in the year.
batch cooking soups, meals and baking tomorrow
have a lovely weekend:beer:0 -
Today I have been to work
- Lunch and snacks paid for
- Didn't buy any bargins at work
- Opened a fixed rate ISA, as we have decided we can lock the remining savings away, now the house purchase has gone through and the furniture is paid for. We have kept £1,500 in normal ISA, £1200 in fixed savings due to mature in 8 weeks in case we need anything, OH car is new and mine has been fully overhalled last month so fingers crossed we are not expecting any big bills.
- Done tesco shop to come tomorrow, cupboards are bare.0 -
Got back from visiting my cousin in the hospital.
My cookies didn't turn out brilliantly, but not bad for a first attempt - its nice to be able to take something that would be enjoyed but without having to spend.
My biggest progress was that I didn't spend any unnecesarry money. I had to buy a travelcard to get to the hospital and I hadn't budgeted for it. So that was the bad news. The good news is that I didn't spend any money whilst I was out. The old me probably would have bought a magazine or two for the commute (£1 each), then maybe a snack, like sushi (up to £5) but I didnt spend anything other than the travelcard. I'm really pleased as that is my biggest spending downfall - the little bits here and there (although I don't go crazy, I could get through £10 over a couple of days and have nothing to show for it).
Tomorrow I'm going to a potato fair to buy my potatoes for planting in Spring. I get them for about 25p each and each seed potato does about £1-2 worth of potatos.0 -

Not too bad thanks Determined. Now I know what causes my vision problems, I don't freak out like I use too, I manage my migraines the best I can, it's just when it happens it's takes a few days for things to get back to normal. my fingers still cramp when I write, but I try not to let that stop me from doing things. Never give up as they say, and I love to read all the posts here, it just fab and great motivation!!!! Hope your day has gone well!!!:D0
