Morning All,

I hope you don’t mind me starting the thread today – loads to do so I am up early

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :D :j

Morning All,

Hope everyone is having a good day so far and everyone is fired up with MSE plans! (taking my motivation from Determined) :D :j

Feeling really excited as hubby met me in town after work last night and got his phone contract renewed and got a new phone as standard. It is a really nice one – a HTC Desire. Loving it! :j :smileyhea

Today I have/will:
• Breakfast and snack’s from home
• Need to go food shopping with mum with a list
• Have downloaded free aps to my new phone :money:
• Read papers online
• Fill in my WW food diary – yet another spreadsheet
• Need to do a menu plan for the week ahead
• Need to update my sig with my small weight gain :o
• Need to drink 2l of water
• Need to spend about an hour planning what I want for the year ahead and actually writing it down today (cosmic ordering)
• Work on my wheel of life thingamy
• need to find somewhere to recycle my old phone

Also - need to read the thread from yesterday

Think that is about it, have a great day and will post tomorrow

    Good morning folks:j

I totally agree Candy and determined new ms. Small steps lead to big improvements in the long run. I try to pay with cash as much as possible (instead of debit card), as I know exactly how much I'm spending and it also helps me decide if I really need what I'm buying. Before my lbm if something was reduced to say £30 from £60, I'd have probably bought 2 of the items and paid on my credit card with the "it's only £60 attitude"! That attitude eventually got me into £38k of debt:mad::o. I also live about 9 miles from town, so do a list and get everything I need in one trip to save money. I cook the majority of food from scratch and also make fresh bread from time to time. I also try to buy as many bogofs as I can and batch cook foods before freezing the remainder for a later date and also make sure I use it all.

    Have a good weekend:beer:

    Red:)
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

My list for the weekend: -
    • visit sister :D
    • washing up to date, will have to be tomorrow!
    • tea per meal planner
    • try and not spend too much apart from petrol costs
    • write a letter to my pal who I've not seen in ages
    • just transferred money to my vsp so need to update thread
    • checked on-line banking and updated ss's
    • check surveys
    • HM bread later on
That's it for me, will update later if I can think of anything else, have a fab weekend everyone :) x

  • Hi everyone, and thanks to Candy for starting the thread.

Yippee, it's the weekend and for once I haven't written myself a massive jobs list. There are things I must do, and loads I ought to do, but actually there's nothing I really WANT to do - if that all makes sense!! ;)

    So far today I have:
    • run WM overnight on Economy 7
    • fed and watered the chickies and let them out to free-range
    • checked banking
    • checked for surveys - seems very slow at the moment
    I will also:
    • hang washing on airer instead of TD
    • set up energy monitor and standby saver which both arrived yesterday after 5 months and half a dozen irate phone calls
    • possibly go into town to look at detox stuff in B**ts, and if so I'll use the Park & Ride as it's cheaper and also, as it's much closer to home, I'll use less diesel
    • two half hour walks thus saving on a gym
    • possibly move my fruit bushes, which is #71 on my 101 things list, although the ground seems pretty frozen today :(
On top of that, there's loads of housework, but this isn't the Flylady thread so I won't bore you with it all here.

Okay, cuppa finished - on with the day!

    Have fun, stitchy x

  • Morning all, nice to see everyone up bright and breezy!

Red - I also used to have the "it's only" £30, £50 etc but it all adds up and is probably one of the reasons so many people end up with money problems.

Finally paid last £100 off cc yesterday - was a bit naughty and used Christmas money (which I'm going to give myself back on pay day) - the payment due date is before I get paid and didn't want another load of interest added. ;)

Had a bit of a lie in and had big cuddles with the dog which was lovely:D so feeling pretty relaxed at the mo.

    Today, well....

1st washing on (about 3 more to go):(
    Check bank accounts & spreadsheets
Take chicken out freezer for dinner tomorrow
Make apple & blackberry crumble (remembered to take these out freezer last night - apples from DM garden & blackberries were picked in the woods so all free:D)
Uni work (just can't get into this unit at all which is strange as it's something I'm quite interested in)
Tidy house & clean (DM coming for visit next week)

    Tomorrow .....

    More uni work
    More washing
Sort through freezer - have a horrible suspicion there's stuff lurking at the bottom that's been there for ages (never seem to sort this as things go in and disappear!)
    Ensure house sparkling!
Roast chicken & veg for dinner
    Make chicken stock
    Make HM soup with stock

    And.....

Lots of walks with dog - cheers us both up and fabby, think it may be the beach today as a bit dull but quite warm.:D

    Have a good day everyone.:)

    Morning all

I've not been able to post for several days as I've been working flat out, plus I've had a couple of nights out. In fact I was so tired yesterday I went to bed at 6pm:eek:

    This weekend I'm going to
    • Check banking - one of my tenants is late paying his rent. It so annoys me when he does this as he's usually only a day or so late but instead of just saying to me, it's going to be late he pretends it's gone out of his bank account... sigh
    • Check surveys and chase up missing fiver I claimed from mysurvey
    • Shopping on Sunday to take advantage of free parking
    • Food from stores
    • Any change into the penny pot. I've got almost £40 bagged up ready to pay on to current snowball recipient.
    • Not sure if I can get myself motivated to run. Feeling really tired
    • Hopefully see my kids and grandkids for a pizza at some point

May think of some other things to do or need doing when my brain kicks in later.

Hope you all have a good weekend and DNMS can I have some energy this way please

Go to hairdresser with my daughter, hopefully have my hair cut, without having it washed.

    Today I have:

-Store cupboard breakfast (a favourite of pitta, peanut butter and banana)
    -Checked for surveys
    -Done SB searches

    I will:
-Walk into town instead of taking the car (although it looks about to rain)
-Look for a top for a friend in town
-Pick up bargain Persil in Asda, items on my list and nothing else
-Use my 50p off vouchers if I do buy a coffee
