If a member, contact the union.
Invite [firms name redacted] to contact the police with a view to prosecuting you. A criminal prosecution will require a higher standard of proof and will put them in the witness box.
If they are keen not to do so, that suggests that someone else is responsible for the missing money and that the manager may know who it is."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -

As I said before they need to have a full investigation before sacking you and a big store like Argos will know the law with regards to disiplinary proceedings. they will ask you back for an interview and I would advise you to take in a friend (not a relative) and take down everything that is said and ask your witness to sign it.0 -
I shall watch this and see what happens....I'm a bit confused here...as I would be extremely upset at the accusation personally...so I dont quite know why O.P. doesnt seem to be...
On a watching brief at the moment...0 -

Absolutely agree. I had a similar situation years ago where £200 went missing (I was a student, working there for the summer, and was used as a scapegoat). I had an interview with head office bloke and the shop steward insisted that he sit in with me even though I wasn't in a union or anything.
I wasn't sacked, but I got a written warning - I still believe that the management gave it to me instead of one the regular staff to keep their record clean.0 -

This could be good advice.
However, do remember that.....
1. You can't make them call the police.
2. To sack you fairly (in law) they only need reasonable grounds to suspect you have done something - this is nowhere near the criminal standard of proof - i.e. beyond a reasonable doubt.
3. It is worth noting that dismissals have been upheld even when somebody later managed to prove that they did not do whatever they were accused of. All that mattered was that it was reasonable for the firm to have held that belief at the time.
Sorry not to have better news.0
