"you middle class business men who know only how to sneer and leer at young girls"
what a true bigot you are. imagine calling a whole section of society p'philes. shame on you!
ps i have nothing against the working class. however i do have a problem with people who have never done a days work in their life getting benefits. the same type of person who goes out with his mates and stabs a stranger for the sake of it.
What a true hypocrite you are when you have just yourself called single parents scum. Is this not a whole section of society???
I would imagine you know lots about knife crime coming from Glasgow and i would also imagine that you most definitely NOT are a middle class business man but more likely someone who has actually been raised on a sink estate and is trying desperately to hide it!
Oh as as for working class. IMO if you have to work then you are working class. End of.0 -
"And......consider selling up, before it turns into a sink estate full of day-glo shell suit wearing fat pram pushers in leggings and their cannabis dealing boyfriends with no car insurance and loud exhausts"
"Avoid living next door to families with lots of kids. They will grow up to terrorise you. The ideal neghbours are a middle-aged, house-proud couple whose kids have grown up and flown the nest. That's in my experience and in my opinion, of course. The worst possible neighbours are single teenage-mums. You can bet your life that they'll be junkies, on the dole, loud and chivvy"
"I generally find benefits claimants dirty people, and they have a horrid tendancy to smoke like chimneys. You can call me bigoted all you like, I judge as I find, and I dont like (in the main) what I see. Their lifestye is a cause of their poverty, its not the other way round, despite what tree huggers like to tell you."
"On the whole, chavs commit more crimes. It's as simple as that. They are also leeches on society as they are likely to be benefits scroungers"
"If these scum had all their rights pulled, as part of their asbo, effectively becoming "marked people" falling outside of the protection of the law, personally I dont see that being a bad thing. You could also have differing gradings depending on the level of the ASBO. "
"Let's all be honest, when you see the chavs out shopping it's hard not to look down on them. What with their sovereign rings and skin tight leggings over their big bums.
they do get their own back on the middle classes though by keying their cars and stopping people outside train stations asking for "45 pence for the bus home big man"
We've had a welfare state for 60 years now. Yet we still have poverty, I think it fair to say some people are just born to be poor. "
Just some of the patronising and ignorant quotes, I have ignored the consistent use of the term 'slapper' as that is too obviously ignorant because of course, the teenage sperm banks who can't use condoms have nothing to do with it. Funny how there isn't a male term for slapper.
Along with those quotes there were many which were opposite. There have been many good and sensible points made on this thread which have been ignored in favour of the idiotic spoutings of a few. There have also been a few single mums contributing to the thread and who have wisely decided not to have anything more to do with it.
So are you still going to tell me that nobody has said anything derogatory or offensive or ignorant? And darkpool - who mentioned !!!!!philes? Or does the term 'young girl' refer only to underage girls, is this something you have knowledge of?
When I was 17 to my early twenties I worked in Manchester and I was repeatedly treated as scum, had advances made towards me and then threatened with the sack when I rejected them. I was told I was just a slapper from Oldham, that I should't be working, I should be in the bedroom making kids and then in the kitchen cooking for them. This wasn't just one employer, this was a series of employers, all married well-to-do men who used their power to look down on girls, tell them how disgusting they were and then try to get off with them. And had I done so, I would be one of your single mum slappers who deserved nothing more than she got.
So perhaps I do have a chip on my shoulder when I hear people spouting such crap. What's your excuse?0 -

What if you chose not to work and opt for a life on benefits, where does that place you?0 -
You still cant disprove any of the statements you dislike so much. I think this is the cause of your angst. The fact that deep down, you know you are....wrong.
You call them ignorant. I see examples of them in everyday life.0 -
If you "choose" not to work and opt for a life on benefits then in my opinion that would make you part of this so called underclass that we hear of.
Personally i don't know anyone like that. I do know a single parent who's partner died. It's my children's aunt. I also know another lady on benefits who has 4 children. Again, because her husband died. To have to cope with being widowed as well as bringing up small children on a limited income AND having to cope with narrow minded people's prejudices must be truly soul destroying and my heart goes out to them.0 -

Completely different scenario. Queue living with dignity vs getting up the duff to half a dozen different fathers.
No-one could fault a mother (or father) that found themselves in this scenario due to tragic consequences.0 -

There's no such thing as male slappers, only studs, but don't confuse these with slappers. To be a stud you have to be good looking, witty and charming. To be a slapper you just have to be there. There are thousands of ugly slappers, there are no ugly studs. Props to whoever can name the comedian who said that!
As for this thread, well yes there are a lot of sweeping generalisations. It's true on private estates you can get some awful people with no consideration for their neighbours and on council estates you can get some really salt-of-the-earth decent people. But on the whole, of course there will be more unsavoury types, anti social behaviour, and noise from housing association tenants (and tenants of cheap private landlord properties) than people who have invested money in their own house, i.e. on a private estate. I sympathise with the OPs rant. If I'd just paid £200k for a new house on a lovely new estate only to discover a large part of it was being sold to a housing authority I'd be devastated. True, it might not be 'that bad' but you can expect a higher turnover of neighbours and therefore less community to the place. The haves and the have-nots all in one place sounds like a recipe for disaster and from reading the accounts on here of people who have experienced it first hand, it is.0 -

I come from a family of 6, my husband from a family of 7. My mother was very very working class, I was brought up in Oldham. I know what it's like to be treated as scum. As a teenager I had grown men try to maul me, presuming that I was a slapper. I was assaulted by taxi drivers and laughed at by the police when I reported it, what did I expect after all? A young girl going out at night in Oldham? Surely I was up for it? All of my friends left school with no qualifications and most got pregnant. Nothing more was expected of them. Unless you have been brought up in that environment I don't think you have a right to point and judge, no.
The way the working classes are described 'breeding like rabbits' you insensitive idiots! How can you dehumanise a whole section of society? You might not like them, you might not understand why they are like that, you middle class business men who know only how to sneer and leer at young girls whilst professing yourselves to be holier than thou. You make me sick, because I have met your kind when I was a young girl. There is no point in discussing anything with you bigoted idiots. Discussion is beyond you, all you know how to do is insult and gain pleasure out of doing so. You were brought up to think you are better than people like me, but I happen to think that I am far far better than people like you.
I'm sorry this thread has brought out the bigots, but I guess it's not surprising that there are still a fair few idiots out there.
I think if you read back your last few posts you will find you have been quite insulting towards people who disagree with you, even if people like ILW consistently attempt to put across their view to you without being overtly rude and insulting.
You obviously have issues from your childhood and teens towards certain types of people, and a slight inferiority complex, but from where Im reading things it looks like youre letting your personal issues colour your view completely, not attempting to take in other views, and finally have become quite insulting.
In the end, reading it as close to impartially as I can, it looks like youve made some pretty sweeping generalisations, about everyone who disagrees with you being a middle class man looking down on people and reminding you of the lecherous men of your youth, youve made generalisations about politicians, footballers, men, in your posts in this thread, youve made more sweeping generalisations than anyone else in this thread, and sweeping generalisations made by other people is what set you off in the first place.
Im not saying I disagree with generalisations, I think theres a reason they exist, because generally they are quite accurate, I'm just saying it looks like pot-kettle-black syndrome.0 -

The last new neighbours we had here (a street with approx 20 or so houses) was over 4 years ago...turnover of people is extremely low. I'm still classed as one of the newbies after nearly 13 years! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I have never referred to "working class" people as scum. I was bought up on a South London council estate myself. But there are scum around and being working class does not excuse it as you seem to believe.
i am not even sure what working class means.
Very very roughly, you've got (in my view):
Benefits class - those living off benefits (IMHO these people are not working class and should never ever be described as such)
Working class - people working for a living in a job that doesn't require a professional qualification (from a shop worker to a call centre worker to a garage mechanic)
Middle class - people working for a living in a job that need professional qualifications (you must have a degree to do the job e.g. doctor, lawyer, university lecturer)"One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0
