£125 a month is a lot of money to spend on food for one person. You will only spend at least half that. Then you have to look at things like rent, council tax, electric, gas, TV licence, phone, internet, travel expenses.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I am thinking 25 pound a week on food- is that too much? ( then an extra 25 for other stuff you get from the supermarket eg washing power):beer:0 -
Absolutely I can't vote as I do not live alone but it is easy to work out, bill wise per month how much goes out each month, everyone knows when they get paid how much they actually need for bills,(check statements) food etc what is left ...Gingham_Ribbon wrote:Is that because you don't want to put the effort in to work it out for yourself? You can't really get a 'flavour' on here as there are hundreds of people here with vastly different incomes and people tend to live to their means. Ask on the student board how much people spend there are that will give you a better idea.0 -
When my son left university he did not want to come back home and so rented a flat. He gave that up and is living here because life in a student house is very different from life in the real world. As a student he paid £250 a month rent and only had to find money for food. Depending on how flush everyone was determind how much was put on the key for the electricity (no gas). If they were all skint they had no electricity!0

It most likely will always be cheaper to live at home!0 -
My household bills, including the mortgage are around £1100 per month for a 1 bed flat in S London. This does not include food, travel, entertainment etc. I hope this helps....0

Think about saving for a car, then insurance, then MOT, then service, then car tax.
Think about saving for a holiday
Think about saving for a deposit to buy your own place
Think about saving for extras for friends birthday and christmas0 -

Insane.....incredibly sad.....whatever!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
