  • It's impossible to answer because it depends on how much you will pay for things in your area. But some considerations to add up are the following:

    Rent
    Food
    Council tax
    Gas
    Electricity
    Phone
    TV license
    Water rates
    Contents insurance
    Travel expenses
    Clothing
    Broadband/sky/other extras
    Social/fun money

I am thinking a month you are talking:

£300 a month min for rent.
£125 min a month on food
    £100 min untilities.
    £ 40 min travel

So I think you are talking min in the £ 600 pounds a month range.

I don't live on my own so if I chose the correct amount it would be for a family of 4 people ~ 2 adults 2 teenagers in a 5 bedroomed house. Not quite the same as one person in a flat.

So I didn't vote in your poll :)

Are you asking people how much it costs them to live alone, or how much it is likely to cost you?

Why do you think? I don't know how much your rent or council tax would be, how much you feel you need for 'extras' and I don't live alone so am not prepared spend an hour working it out for you.

If you want to live alone, have a look at property available in your chosen area, find out council tax rates and make some enquiries from insurance companies etc. And have a look at the old style board, because your food bill could easily be slashed.

It's not "impossible" for people to know how much they spend per month and click in a box.

I know that I spend over £2800 per month on bills/living expenses etc, but that's not going to help you in this poll is it?

You need to go down Gingham's list and work out how much you would be spending on them in your area and then click your own box! (Get yourself a job first though! ;))

I am not talking about how much it will cost me- I think you misunderstand the post.

I am just interested in having a flavour of what others spend.

It costs me about £250, so I can't vote :-p

Edit, and I don't live alone.

    Scrap all that.
