So bugg€r off and start another topic to converse about the colonies instead of hijacking a thread about fuel costs!
why sit here in a country that continually penalises the hard working to fund the lazy dole scum and keep complaining about it but do nothing? i'm being pro-active.
thats is the basis of my post. after that i had a few well wishers disccusing the merits of moving to canada of which i quoted and replied to.
i'm realy sorry its upset you so much, maybe you should think about something life changing to do that will calm you down a bit and give you something else to focus on other than other folk on a forum....work permit granted!0 -

I know it's off topic but GOOD LUCK to you GS, just wish I had had the balls to up and go a few years back. :beer:0 -
I know Canada well. Fuel is half the price than it is here and if you live outside the cities in smaller towns the quality of life is great. You get the sense of space that you can’t get in the UK but saying all of that I know several people who have come back after only a couple of years. The problem for them is that they have had to sell all their 240V appliances before they left the UK and then had to sell all their 110V appliances before they left Canada. It is surprising how many things we all own that uses electricity.
Also if you like curries then you will be sadly disappointed.0 -
Back to the OP, 55 litres for £75 would equal £1.36 a litre, whilst being expensive there are petrol stations out there that are dearer.
I'm wondering what the most expensive petrol station is that people can find???0 -

at the risk of upsetting psiDOC,I'll reply.
not a big fan of curries, prefer homemade ones,i've got a nut allergy so eating curries is a bit like running a gauntlet for me.
don't have too many 240v appliances, all our stuff should fit on an air freight pallet so no need to worry about shipping containers.
we are looking at a few towns on the outskirts of calgary, don't fancy living in the city....work permit granted!0 -

Got a normal oldish Audi A4 diesel - popped into the garage today running on vapour and filled up to the top, squeezed the nozzle a couple of times for luck, then I looked round and nearly had a heart attack £75 for a tank ful
This is bl***dy ridiculous especially with fuel duty, VAT all coming out of post tax income - someone is having a serious laugh somewhere.
If it has the pre pd engine then the a4 is brilliant on vegetable oil. If you can source second hand from a restaurant for free like I do you may never have to buy fuel again. If you are buying the veg new from a cash and carry its about £15 per 20 litres and with a pre pd audi just pour it straight in the tank and off you go. For further help and advice check out- http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum
and to check your a4 compatibly see- http://www.biomotors.co.uk/CarsVans.html#Audi
Like me the cost of diesel may never be a concern again.0 -
Diesel in Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides is £1.45 a litre and petrol is £1.43 a litre. I've stopped filling my tank, just put £20 - £25 in at a time now.0
