I wasn't saying a A4 is a 4x4, last part was just something I've noticed at work. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
It is getting a bit worrying, I'm hoping they get a move on with electric cars, but as my commute is the best part of 100 miles and I live in a flat hence can't plug a car in overnight it wouldn't be viable for me as things are. I can only recommend people drive more fuel efficiently, my daily commute used to cost me £8.80 but since I've started driving better it's gone down to about £8.40, despite petrol being about 10p a litre more.
No doubt though when electric cars do take off there will be a £3k road tax on them to make up for the decrease in fuel duty...
exactly, it won't matter what kind of fuel you use it will be taxed, then taxed again, and then topped up with a bit more tax every now and again when the government need more money.
the only way is out. hence my signature....work permit granted!0 -

Yep, ditch the Audi, £650 will get you one of those and it will do 75 mpg (ignore the giggles from other motorists).
It will cost you the price of filling your car 8.6 times if my calc is correct.
Skoda Fabia Greenline II. The combined MPG for urban and extra urban driving is 84. On a good run it's supposed to be able to get up tp 94MPG ! Who cares if its a Skoda.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0 -
I would bet good money that you will get nowhere near those figures. I can't even achieve the urban figure for my car.0

Canada here we come??
Strange world, 10 years ago when I was in a student city in Germany it was full of Brits kids who said the uk was finished, they aren't exactly laughing now.
20 years back when I was in the USA the place was full of young Canadians searching for a living. Circles and cycles, good luck man.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Wfes last car was a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, twas supposed to do in the 40's MPG wise. What a joke, it did about 25mpg - less than my Landrover !!!!!! ! The car was chosen on the basis that it's the most economical family car about, at present. So it does need to be 'fit for purpose'.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0 -
On topic briming the tank isn't the best idea really, you could quite easily lose 1/2 a ltr to spilleage and create hazards at the same time. Plus the extra weight will affect fuel consumpsion to some extent. At lest our local coop was giving 5p off per litre with a £40 spend when I called in last week, did actually ignore my own advice and 3/4 fill the tank, it's never had a drink like that for years;)
(Rather sneakily after they asked if I wanted the shopping receipt back, which I did, my wife called in the next day and said she'd forgot about the coupon when she shopped and they gave her one from the till.
Double discount :money:, all's fair in the tax war.)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
