Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all!
Can't believe I'm the first one on here today. Freezing this morning. Went out and defrosted dh car as I was up first.:A Sent him off to work a happy bunny.
Friend coming to visit today with her wee baby, so looking forward to that. Still got to get on clearing bedroom clutter ready for new carpets next week.
Have a good day everyone and hugs to all who need or want one.

I've started a duplicate thread, could the board guides please remove it for me.
It's a beautiful clear crisp morning here, the sky is a deep inky blue & the moon is hanging huge & low, a perfect circle.
Usual chores done here, DW loaded, fish fed packups made, ham for hubby, peanut butter for me, hubby's been dropped at the station & I'm having another cuppa before I go to work.
Peppered steak for tea, my butcher sells it in tray of about 6 to 8 pieces & everytime its on offer of buy 3 trays for the price of 2 hubby buys some, so my freezer is full of it!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester. I did check (twice) before I started the thread, but I think we must have been at it at the same time. Sorry! I just couldn't believe it that you weren't up and had it started. Was starting to worry about you!
Have a good day. Btw, peanut butter sandwich sounds yummy! I haven't had one of those since I was pregnant!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Morning all,
Cold here it was below minus for the first time in ages during the night, can feel it this morning. Yesterday was such a beautiful day though, got 2 loads of washing dry on the line, they just needed an airing overnight, they can be put away today.
Off to work today, so a quick swish and swipe will have to do this morning, rubbish needs to be put out, I made my breakfast and lunch up yesterday, so one less job to do.
DD has physics GCSE today, so good luck to her, and all others doing exams.
Dinner tonight is chicken fried rice for OH and quorn fried rice for dd, I shall have a chicken breast with some salad and maybe some hard boiled eggs to fill me up.
Meant to ask, Butterfly do you have a recipe for low carb bread ? thanks xx
OK better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Dark and chilly this morning. DH up and gone to work at stupid early o'clock.
Another quite relaxed evening last night, managed to organise dinner for myself, DS1 and DS2 before DS1 went to Cadets, leftovers used up out of the fridge too.
Managed to get the kitchen cleaned up last night too, so now feel much better, have planned to do the dreaded oven clean on Friday night this week, so need to crack on Friday to get all my cooking/baking done in the day, learnt a lesson in the past, cleaned the oven, had a baking session and spilt something that then burned onto the oven! At least it will stay clean for a little while this way! Treat tins are starting to look a little bare so may do some mincepies/treats this afternoon.
Have load of washing to hang out before I go to work, not much blow here so not sure that it will dry but cheaper than TD. Am sticking to the menu plan quite well, tonight's dinner is gammon, egg, mash and veg. Haven't needed to buy anything as yet, but will need some more ham/sandwich meats before the end of the week.
Managed to buy my colleagues birthday prezzie yesterday, and bought a candle in a glass holder and a wooden photo frame, she moved into a new flat not so long ago and so hoping I got it right! She did say in general conversation yesterday that she was doing really well not eating chocolate, good job I didn't go down that route then!
Feeling quite a lot brighter this morning, but that's probably because I only have to work until lunch then I'm on day's off until Monday!
Need to go and crack on, have a good day everyone.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all.
A day of housework here.
DW emptied, lunch boxes are made.
Will be a NSD today.
It's gone cold again, frost outside.
Am making HM pizza for the childrens dinner tonight.
DH is away again. He has to travel a lot for his job. It's quite money saving actually cos all his food etc is in expenses & I don't have to feed him here! :rotfl:
RedRuby, good luck to your DD. It seems awfully early in the year for GCSE's.
Love (((hugs))) & spoons all around

Morning All,
Redruby good luck to DD with her exam. My DS has a physics exam today so fingers crossed.
Cold and crisp and fresh this morning, it feels like spring is on the way:D
I didn't sleep great last night, a combination of worrying about money and this awful dizzyness when I lie down. Oh well don't have to go out today and no car again. This is my third NSD so I guess there is always a bright side.
Quick tidy round and organise tea. Omlettes tonight using up bits of cheese, salami and ham leftovers in the fridge
Need to get OH accounts up to date and get some more bits on ebay.
Have a good day everyone J xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning All,
Good luck to the young people with the exams, I am tired and feeling a bit freaked out about going back to work tomorrow, and am going back to bed for an hour.

Morning all
It`s a bit colder here today, had a little ice on the windscreen but not too hard to remove.
Need to look for a new fridge/freezer after work. I think the fridge in ours is about to break. Also the seal needs replacing but you can`t just buy that you need a new door and they don`t make the model now.
It was frozen at the back but nothing seemed cold. Anyway started to look online for another last night.
This morning I got up and checked again and it seems to be back to normal with the motor running.
Other plans for today are work and dental appointment at lunchtime.
Haven`t planned what to have for tea so it may be freezer surprise.
Also read this quote yesterday and have now added to my signature:
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

It really makes sense
Have a great day everyone.0
