  • I'm not bothering to list the contents of my fridge, but there is a whole gammon in there that I cooked yesterday. We're having some of that tonight, then the rest will go in the freezer.

So now I know why we're in debt......because I spend a fortune on food :o

Now I just need to work out the meal plan for next month. Hmmm could take me a while, as there's so much to choose from :rotfl:

Ooooo I challenge you to only buy fruit veg and milk through the whole of March.
I cleared my cupboards out last year and any tins that were out of date I put on the worktop in the way until I used them, I hate clutter so it didnt take long and DH is still standing after the 2 year out of date beans :D

I may pinch your idea and give my cupboards a good sort this weekend see if I can cut food shopping down to £100 for the month

OK...I'll try, but I'll have to add cheese, chicken breast and maybe a few more tins of baked beans and some more frozen peas to that.

I'll cross off what I use up as I go along. I have now meal planned (evening meals) to 18th March, so here goes.

Thurs: spaghetti & meatballs, HM garlic pizza bread
Fri: chicken in white wine sauce, rice & green beans
Sat: HM lamb donner kebabs, pittas, salad & hm spicy wedges
Sun: roast beef dinner, woodland strudel & custard
Mon: sea bass/fish fingers, chips & peas
    Tues: Fry-up
Weds: Lamb cutlets, potatoes & veg
Thurs: jacket potatoes, cheese & beans/tuna mayo & salad
Fri: sweet & sour chicken balls, egg fried rice, mini spring rolls
Sat: beef stew, mash & green veg
Sun: [STRIKE]roast lamb shanks dinner[/STRIKE] leftover roast beef dinner
Mon: breaded plaice/mackerel fillet/fish fingers, chips & peas
Tues: lasagne, hm garlic bread & salad
Weds: jacket potatoes, cheese & beans/salmon mayo & salad
Thurs: toad in the hole, mash, peas & gravy
Fri: chicken/lamb (if leftovers from sun) curry, rice & naan bread
Sat: HM pizza, garlic bread & salad
    Sun: roast chicken dinner
Mon: chicken & gammon pie, potatoes & veg
Tues: jacket potatoes, cheese & beans/tuna mayo
Weds: corned beef hash & baked beans
Thurs: mackerel/fish fingers, chips & peas
Fri: chicken in white wine sauce, rice & green beans
    Sat: burritos & nachos

That takes us to sat 18th, then I'll re-evaluate. I will have to buy provisions for DS6's party, but I'm not going to go overboard.

I think by the end of the month I will probably buy another meat order from great bircham foods, as we'll have none left by then.

I have both boys at home for the rest of half term, so will be using things up for lunches. Also going to make some more twinks, and I need to look up a recipe for fruit cake. I remember making one a few years ago with fruit soaked in cold tea. I have such a lot of flour/sugar that I need to use up...I feel a serious baking session coming on :D

  • Thanks, I made some banana bread last weekend. I haven't got any chocolate (don't need any encouragement to buy anything else :D). Just found an easy recipe for tea bread. I have a loaf in the oven now, should be ready about 10.15 :j

  • Hi hun!

O M G you have been SO busy!!!! Am in awe. You've done a task I must do myself! Recently ran my freezer down so I know exactly what's in it now but the pantry's just full of things I must use up.

If you put your list on the old style boards people are fantastic at coming up with meal ideas if you still fancy some.

Well done!!!! A MSE way to spend your time!
