  • Bad news I'm afraid.
I bought and paid for my new glasses from Specky Four Eyes just over three weeks ago and have still not received my order. I got an update email 2 days after the order and nothing since.
I emailed them a week later which was ignored.
I've phoned them three times and each time the lady who answered the phone, "umm, hello?" said without asking my name, We will despatch them in the morning, you'll get them the next day.
I've been told this little fib three times now and have since given up on ever getting either truth or my glasses.
Please take care when considering Specky Four Eyes. However, Glasses Direct have always been fab. Stick with them instead.
  • I placed an order with SpecyFourEyes after the deal posted here at MSE - likewise I have received no further details of the order, beyond the initial confirmation. I have tried to contact them - their online chat is never available, they never answer the phone or WhatsApp.
  • I ordered some glasses for £10 using the code on here from speckyfoureyes.com, i ordered these 8 days ago received the confirmation stating £10 and details of the order, i then received an update saying they were personalising lenses and nothing since. Today i have checked my account to see that the order has now changed from £10 to £19, they did email me asking if i want a lens package for £9 which i said no and now the order has changed to £19, i have also ordered some from glasses direct ordered on Friday and came on Tuesday, will definately use them again and not speckyfouryes

I have messaged them and asked for a refund but no reply, my advice would be to stick with glasses direct plus the glasses are much nicer
  • Wanting recomendation please, I have a high prescription, need varifocals, thinner lenses and would also like'transitions' as well.
At the moment I have Asda ones cost me £40, no transitions and only thinned down once but need them thinning again. If I get the George frames again, plus extra thinning and transitions think it will cost me £120.
Had a look glasses 2 you and Goggle 4 eyes and both come out more than that, am I looking in the wrong place?

Personally I wouldn'yptbgo online for varifocals. They need to sit on your face correctly in exactly the right place, which you won't get online. Stick to asda for great value.
  • Also had a problem with Speckyfoureyes Really annoyed as this was recommended by Moneysavingexpert. Only one pair of glasses turned up after 4 weeks no refund for the other pair, no customer service and the number is a premium as I've just found out so no point to keep ringing as they make money out of not responding
Moneysavingexpert obviously not interested in the companies that they endorse but have the audacity to have the caption 'fighting your corner' on their Facebook page.

My wife is an optician and got increasingly annoyed at the price of glasses and the hard sell that the big names were trying to her to do. She always stuck to her principles and never issued glasses unless the person needed them.

Due to this, she has now set up her own mobile optician here in Dorset in a converted bus. Due to her low overheads she is able to provide glasses at internet prices but with the choice and aftercare of a normal practice.

I was quite shoked at how little a pair of glasses could be made for. We send away for the lenses and even have them fitted to the frame and for single vision it is less than £20.

Obviously big business has big overheads but the high street chains take thousands of pounds a week.

Well i totally respect your wife for her honesty and the mobile optician in a bus sounds like a fab idea. I really hope it does well. Now i have no issues with people making an honest living but as your wife suggests, there is far too much cloak and dagger going on in optometry and the public are sometimes being ripped off. There are cosy cartel agreements between contact lens manufs and glasses manuf and they seek to control the market and hyperinflated prices.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Waited 6 weeks for Specky's glasses , still not arrived , took the money straight away.
    Not answering emails,
I have now opened a dispute claim with Paypal
    KEEP AWAY !!

  • Bad experience with Speckyfoureyes. Still not sent glasses after a month. Apparently didnt have my full address, but never even contacted me to confirm, no sorry at all in the curt reply from them, neither did they say if they are sending either. Also never received email confirmation of order either so only had a paypal ref to go of.
Never seen such ignorance in my life from a company who does value a customers patronage at all. Have opened paypal dispute, and hope I can at least get money back.
What bothers me is the lack of research moneysavingexpert has done if they are endorsing such a terrible company. Obviously there has been numerous bad examples with Speckyfoureyes but it doesnt seem like it is recognised by the site.
I have at least learned from this experience that just because its a great deal posted on this site to not go blindly shopping with companies I dont know anything about. No matter how cheap it is never worth it for the bad experiences.
