Avoid selectspecs. Everything you hear about their customer service and painfully slow/non-existent delivery here and on many other sites is true.
Suffice to say, my £10 pair, ordered on 4 December, still haven't arrived. They say they don't give refunds for non-delivery and to receive a replacement, you have a download a form, fill it in and post it to them. They then "investigate" which apparently involves you waiting for the courier to contact you. This surely can't take less than a week or two more and would seem like a stalling tactic - after all what can the courier as me that they couldn't ask themselves in the form? What good will it do anyway? I can prove I paid - they should at least prove they sent the item before wasting any more of my time.
They don't appear to guarantee you any comeback by this method either and warn you that "it is a criminal offence to make false claims".
Physician, heal thyself.
Dont't want to make another long post, so if you're interested see the "vent - selectspecs" thread for more detail.0 -
just to show that we don't all moan, so far the Customer Service from lensway has been excellent and the glasses are good quality for the price.0

where is this?
Companies shouldn't promote through MSE and then give this bad a service. After all, it's only going to give them bad publicity, which can't be good.
It's on the praise vent and warnings and warnings forum.
As I can't post links - and since you've asked about the post, I'll post my experience again. Apologies if I fall foul of any cross posting rules - I haven't seen anything in the rules.
"Anyway, I ordered a cheap (£10.00) pair of glasses from this company on 4 December, which a month later hadn't arrived - in fact they still haven't (19 February).
On informing them about the delay, they asked me to wait FOR A FURTHER TWO WEEKS to see if the item arrived! I know it was (allegedly) shipped from Hong Kong, but unless they were sending it by bicycle courier, one would have hoped a month should be long enough for them to spring into action.
Suffice to say the item didn't arrive (after six weeks). I informed them of this and asked for either a replacement item or a refund. To my dismay, I was informed that they don't do refunds for non-delivery (!) and that I would have to download a form, fill it in and post it to them to receive a replacement. However they didn't actually send me the form, so I had to send another message requesting they do so (perhaps they sent it via Hong Kong?).
In this staggeringly impertinent form - which comes across like an investigation of MY integrity (I paid instantly remember, they're the ones who didn't send the item) - selectspecs inform me that the courier will be contacting me (I imagine they're travelling from Hong Kong too) for my "assistance" in tracing the item. Apparently if I don't do so to their satisfaction they will charge me for a replacement.
In other words the onus is on me, the customer, to prove I haven't received the item, rather than on selectspecs to prove they sent it and that it was delivered. To add insult to injury they then have the temerity to "warn" me that "a false claim will result in criminal prosecution".
Even if everything goes swiftly and according to plan from now on, it will take at least a further week or two (snail mail to selectspecs, investigation, etc) before I see any sign of the item.
In truth, unless I go to bl**dy Hong Kong myself, I expect that by the time I do receive the flipping things my prescription will have changed anyway.
Bearing all this in mind, take this...Hi FinrodFelagund,
.. If a frame is usually unavailable we would contact the customer within several days to offer a refund or another model/option...
Kind regards,
James
SelectSpecs.com
...with a fistful of salt.
You may well get a refund if the item's not in stock, but not if it doesn't arrive. Ironically that's your best hope - that they don't have any in stock and use that get-out-of-jail-free card to put your refund to better use elsewhere.
Don't take my word for it - please, please, please, look at the mountain of reviews making very similar complaints about this company on various forums etc, before you buy anything. I wish I had.
Should have gone to specsavers..."0 -

HAHAHAHAHA!!!
I seem to remember something about this too. Has anyone else been told this and later found that they didn't give you one? This would seem to be a false statement and a possible way to bring this company to account.
I suppose the lesson is not to believe what "a selectspecs representative" tells you.0 -
i haven't received part of my order (why they decided to send it in two parcels a few days apart i don't know). I received the later sent but not the earlier sent. It's been three weeks since 'shipped from Hong Kong'.
and the quality of the glasses I have received is unacceptable because the lenses are scratched (but the frames ain't too good either). I need to send them back for 'inspection'. First they wanted me to send photos of the scratched lenses.
i've asked them to send any replacements from the UK (which they do for higher priced glasses).
am i entitled to ask Paypal for a refund because i haven't received the goods or they are not as described? I may do this soon as its been a week without no reply from them.0 -

The 'vent' thread on SelectSpecs is here:

Probably best to continue the discussion there rather than in this general thread. Thanks for the warning about Selectspecs."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."
